I've had an enquiry from an American legal firm with about 50 offices. The name is right in their area of specialisation, and it's a good keyphrase. Does anyone have any experience of their attitude towards domain name prices? It's a name I wanted to keep for myself, but I have to temper ambition with reality. :)

Look at comps. Every customer is usually different, every firm even more so. Or ask them to make an offer and see if you're comfortable with it

Is this a .com? How many other tld's are registered in this name? Lawyers have a tremendous amount of choices with .law and .lawyer but in my experience they do prefer EMD's (exact match domains) in .com over brandables. Also check the SERPS to see what the search volume and CPC (cost per click) is? In my opinion most lawyers don't mind spending on a good domain, compared to say, REALTORS?

It's a two word exact match .com in their area of speciality. ( no hyphen). It's got 10 years of age, but I haven't owned it for that long. I bought it several months ago. I've got two other names that aren't as good, but also relevant for their business. I'm thinking of responding with the 3 names to give them a choice, but I wonder if it is better to limit myself to the name that triggered the contact, and offer the other when a deal is completed ( if it gets that far).

The names are parked at the moment, and they aren't in a market place. I think I'm going to pop a mini-site on them to have a look at the traffic, and, in the meantime, I'll send an initial holding response tomorrow to try to get a feel for the interest.

Well I've been a bit slow replying to theinitial enquiry. I need to do a bit of research first before I decide on a price. I've just had another offerfrom the same potential buyer. and he's upped the offer by a factor of 25. Well the initial offer was a bit too low. :)
