I got an offer for a domain from a law firm that specializes in trademarks and defending TMs and copyrights (as well as having a section that helps people setup online businesses).

In the email they are saying that they have a client interested in my domain and are asking if it is for sale and for how much.

the domain is extremelly generic, and to the best of my knowlegdge it isnt TMed. I checked the uspto, but the law firm is based in Canada.

Would you answer with a $ amount, which could be used against you in case of a TM dispute or simply tell them it isnt for sale?

I googled the email directly as to gain some knowledge as to who within the firm was sending it, and their title in the firm is:
"Trade-mark Agent" .. oh oh... or not?

I have sold hundreds of domains, but never to a legal firm specializing in TMs...
Thanks :)

Seek legal advice..

Mark any correspondence to them "Without Prejudice" and use ambiguous terms like "possibly", "might be", "would consider"...

How about this?

"Thanks for your inquiry.

I have no immediate plans to sell xxxxxxxxx.com, but I will consider any offer."

Nicely put! Let them take the initiative with their offer.

thanks guys.
I will follow that route and place make them make an offer while looking uninterested unless the price is 'reasonable'.
