Anybody else try advertising on Facebook?

As a lark, I decided to try advertising domains on Facebook. I wrote an ad offering a particular type of domains [first-name domains, such as Joe-dot-whatever].

Yesterday was my first day: about 70,000 impressions, 11 clicks (@ 60-70 cents each).

But so far today (as of early evening), my ad has only gotten 15 impressions! I guess they decided my low CTR wasn't making enough revenue for them, so they moved it way down the list. Understandable ... but still quite a drop, from 70K to 15 in one day!

Has anybody else tried to market domains through Facebook ads?

P.S. This ad could work a lot better if it were targeted only at members who have those first names. But neither Facebook nor MySpace lets advertisers target ads that way.

In the last four days (since the ad got 70,000+ views on its first day), it is averaging about 25 views/day, with no clicks.

When I placed the ad, FB was recommending that I bid 60-70 cents per click. Now it's recommending $1.93-$2.45. (I guess my ad has such a low CTR that they want to boost the per-click revenue, but that's too rich for my blood, so this ad is basically defunct.)

Just like Adwords...

The first campaign you make has a lot of impressions, the next days it drops drastically.

It sucks, indeed.

I guess they're punishing you for not being targeted enough. They're trying to reduce keyword spamming and what not, and have your ad be highly focused for a given demographic.

They've stopped running my ad altogether (0 views in the past week). "Suggested bid" is now up to $2.53-$3.02. Oh well, guess I'll find some other way to get rich.

I been using Facebook and is working for me, in Colombia the bid is 16 cents, but still FB Advertising is very expensive.

Sometimes a create a CPM campaign, and I end up paying 0,02 cents /click , but it has to be a very attractive Ad almost everyone wants to click on it.

I have thought about it in the past but haven't taken the step to advertise. It seems like you really need to find a good niche area and make sure you've got a very attractive headline so as not to get a very low CTR.
