.us Any thoughts on my new .us ?

What do ya think about FunFacts.us?
All top level ext. are now taken. I think I will jump right into developing this one, just wanted some thoughts and mabye any ideas you may have.

I heard developing .us domains is a no no, because google doesn't rank them high, so it's alot harder to get good traffic.

Let's face it, there aren't many developed .US sites that are leaders in their field. You could argue that del.icio.us is, but that's owned by Yahoo now so hardly a good benchmark of Google's engine.

The one I could think of (imageshack.us) does in fact appear as the #1 result for search phrase 'image storage' and lists as #2 for 'image hosting'.

Because there are so few developed .US sites that would rank #1 even if they were the .COM, I think this creates a perception that .US domains are penalized. Domain age also plays a part in SERP and in terms of public availability, .US is still a very new extension relative to .com/net/org.

Interesting subject, and very open to being proved wrong as this is just what makes sense to me and reality often disagrees with what makes sense to me
