If you are looking for cheap domains on GoDaddy but do not insist on a direct deal with GoDaddy, why don't you check out their resellers?

Looks like some of the WWD resellers have the same $1.99 campaign as GoDaddy and their SMTP relay is cheaper.

One of the resellers I found sells SMTP Relay at $1.00, which means $1.99 (.com) + $0.25 (ICANN) + $1.00 (SMTP) = $3.24.

Although I'm not affiliated with any resellers, I'm not sure I can post the name without being blamed for (false) self-promotion...

Where did you find it at?

I had no luck...

Can't find it at voxdomains either.

I guess if you ask the support where to purchase SMTP Relay, they will let you know.
But here's the easiest way. I'll use http://www.registermate.com/ and Internet Explorer for example.

Open http://www.registermate.com/
Hold down Shift key and click the [Home] link at the upper left of the page.
The home page will open in a new window.
Look at the address bar. Now you should see https://www.securepaynet.net/gdshop/rhp/default.asp?prog_id=... It is the real reseller URL which is usually masked by frame.
Replace /gdshop/rhp/default.asp in the address bar with /gdshop/products/smtp_relay.asp to jump directly to SMTP Relay product page. Don't modify the other portions of the URL. (For your reference, here's an example of the result: https://www.securepaynet.net/gdshop/products/smtp_relay.asp?prog_id=registermate )
Click Go.

Yes ,a lot of us poor suffering WWW resellers have this promo
But please spare a thought for us , any of these promo's cost the reseller money
that is why a lot either don't promote it or don't have it.

The reseller's BUY price for the name remains the same ,only the sell price changes. In the case for instance a .com sale , I would lose 4 bucks every time someone buys a .com

I'm afraid the quick link I wrote above can be considered a bit tricky. If you feel uncomfortable with the quick link, you can do the following for your peace of mind (but it's a waste of time IMHO):

Go to the Support FAQ page of your preferred reseller. Find "What is SMTP Relay service?" page in the Email/Webmail section.
It should read, "If you need more than 250 relays for your mailbox, additional relay packs (packs of 50) can be purchased through reseller name."
Ask the support where to purchase the said 'additional relay packs'. They should let you know the page, which should be essentially the same page I wrote.

Or if you already have an email account, the FAQ "How do I set up SMTP relay?" tells how to purchase SMTP Relay.

Registermate is RJ's site, and I'm sure someone must have tried the trick by now... So I suppose he could tell us how it credits/deducts? the sale.

Back by popular demand! For a limited-time, your customers can register, transfer or renew their domain names for only $1.99 with each and every non-domain purchase no quantity limit!
When customers purchase a non-domain product from your site, including WebSite Tonight, a hosting plan, Traffic Blazer, secure certificate or any other product you offer they'll be able to register, transfer, or renew a domain name for a full year for just $1.99. They save big on their domain and you'll score serious profits! Go to Current Promotions to opt-in now!

Note: The Buy Rate for any domain purchased at the one-year special price of $1.99* will be $6.00. This special Buy Rate is in effect for the first year of registration only; normal Buy Rate will apply for the second year and thereafter.
* Plus ICANN fee of 25 cents per domain name year.
Qualifying products include: (a) Hosting; (b) Virtual and Dedicated servers; (c) Email; (d) Private Registration; (e) Online File Folder; (f) Domain Alert; (g) Express Email Marketing; (h) Merchant Accounts; (i) Fax Thru Email; (j) Quick Shopping Cart; (k) SSL Certificates; (l) C-Site; (m) Web Site Tonight; (n) Traffic Blazer; (o) Online Group Calendar; and (p) News Blazer.

Yes, www.RegisterMate.com is my site.

I participate in the $3.99 domain promotion, but not the $1.99 one. My SMTP Email Relay is set at $4.95, not $1, so this "loophole" wouldn't hurt me.

If the reseller offers the $1.99 or 3.99 special, the buy rate (their cost) is $6.00 per registration, as BFT mentioned above. That means they're buying at a loss, hoping to make it up on the required extra services which usually have a commission of $2+.

SMTP Email Relay lets the reseller set the price at anything over $1. The buy rate is around $.55. If you found WWD resellers offering the $1.99 special at set their SMTP Email Relay service at the lowest possible, you're paying $3.24 for the domain and the reseller is paying GoDaddy $6.50. The reseller is taking a $3+ loss on the transaction.

The WWD reporting system is horrible; it doesn't even let you see indivdual orders, and all transactions get grouped together. So I wouldn't be surpised if these orders are costing some resellers a bunch of money without them even realizing it. It's not technically a loophole though, since the reseller has to OPT-IN to the $1.99 promotion, and should be fully aware of the terms of the promotion before doing so. Likewise with lowering the prices of their services to unprofitable levels.

Well, actually this is the link for purchasing smtp relays at voxdomains.com

https://www.securepaynet.net/gdshop/products/smtp_relay.asp?prog_id=server

You have to just login to your account and claim your domain name. Before check out purchase the smtp through the link above so that you have both the domain and smtp purchases in your shopping cart. I doubt they will notice what is going on as they are one of the biggest resellers (if not the biggest in terms of turnover) with thousands of registered active customers. Unless of course, you are too greedy... :hehe:
