If the New.net extensions were browser supported without needing a plugin, do you think it would make a difference? What do you think might make new.net catch on?

If these were real domains, then they might catch on. Junk, forget about them.

So, in another words you're saying that the owner of the domain New.net is selling subdomains just like US.com, UK.com, EU.com, etc.

Not at all.

New.net is actually selling domains (not subdomains) but on an alternate DNS root system.

Just check this page for detailed explanations :

it's browser dependent, your browser needs to be enabled to display new.net domains by downloading a plugin
http://new.net/download/ndnsetup.exe

that goes to show owners of these browser/plugin dependent domains are not domainers.

I can't understand they are still in business or that there are still people buying these 'names'. The worse is that their .travel extension conflicts with the official, icann-sanctioned .travel TLD. And even the newer, 'official' TLDs have a hard time selling to the public ;)

This was the first clue that registerfly was bad juju - right? After enom/netsol had pulled the plug on these fake domains that pissed the hell out of novice users that registered them only to find out that none of their friends could go to www.allan.pirate without downloading what felt like spyware first, regfly continued to "pimp" new.net for months afterwards.

Was, and still is, crap. Subdomains were, and still are, crap ;) . All just one man's opinion, as usual.

Why have another hurdle (the plugin) just to get to a website? Bunk, garbage, thought up in a board room with a bunch of "yes men" to squeeze a few dollars out of the masses. Other than that I think they are awesome.

I'll never install it, so I'd never need to remove it.

unaccessible if without the plugin.
i suggest to new.net that they make these type of domains for free since you are "forced" to install a plugin in order to browse it.
