thank you Tippy, although this matter did cost me alot of time, I am glad that it happened because this will result in many others not having to go through the same...
It was a rip off in my eyes and I am glad that RegFly have taken the wise decision to refund me (which I believe is a first) and also to drop the new.net domains.

Good for RegFly. I never liked how they listed the new.net extensions right alongside legitimate TLD's. It must have been a customer service nightmare when unsuspecting consumers figured out they can't use their domain like they wanted to.

I don't see the same problem with Centralnic domains - not to the same degree. At least if someone buys a .uk.net domain it will actually resolve, so they're getting what they expected.

Centralnic has acquired domains in the .com TLD like us.com and uk.com and sells third level subdomains off of them. In some cases, because ccTLD's are soemtimes third level, like .com.uk, then people could get confused and think .uk.com is the same thing. They don't really hide this fact, but they don't go out of their way to disclose it prominently either.

I've never registered one, but I would guess it actually adds some complications to the DNS for those domains and setting them up for hosting. If you were to use one for your own nameservers, it would have to be something like ns1.domain.uk.net Most hosting companies FAQ's only address second level domains in detail. I think the complications of third level registrations are one of the things that originally stunted the growth of the .name TLD, since some hosts controls were not set up to support them.
