Answerable.com Nightmare

I'm going to make a long story short here.

I registered some domains with anwerable.com and two days later I recieved an e-mail saying that because of fraud protection they needed me to fax them a copy of my credit card front and back plus a copy of my drivers license and a statement saying I authorized the charge.

Well, after not getting through to support I decided not to send those things in. So answerable.com released the names and they were free for anyone to register.

Now two days later they have charge my credit card for those domain names. I called them and they said that my account has been credited for those purchases.

So now I am talking to some guy in India who wants me to create a support ticket to try and get my money back.

This is just absurd. To anyone thinking about using answerable, I say, save yourself the headache and look elsewhere.

After getting disconnected and finally getting through to someone in India, I have been informed that I should recieve a refund in 15 days.

So, according to them, my credit card charge could have been a fraud so they dropped the names and yet after dropping the names they charged my credit card.

So I end up with no names and a charge to my credit card.

I will never use answerable.com again.

Well,
I am not affiliated or connected with Directi or any of its subsidiaries, but I am saying they are very good.

You are blaming them for your mistakes. I answered your previous post.
http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/453805-i-wont-use-anwerable-com-ever.html

You don't need to open any support tickets. Do not post misleading information about a registrar.

For every unsuccessful registration, they will credit the amount to your Answerable.com account. You may use those funds to purchase other domain(s), or you may ask for a refund.

Unlike GoDaddy, you have to manually request refund from your Answerable.com member area. Usually they will process your refund request within 2 - 7 days.

Once you logged in to your Answerable.com account, you can request refund at:
http://manage.answerable.com/servlet/CustomerRequestRefundServlet?action=refundamountpage

Every registrar has its own policies. Dynadot does not refund your payment for unsuccessful registrations. It credits your Dynadot account, and you will be able to use those funds only to purchase another domain name from Dynadot. Answerable.com is far better!

Hope this helps!

They had a problem with the credit card chage and requested more information. I did not send them a photocopy of my credit card and my ID because when I called them I didn't get support.

The fact is they returned my domains to the open market and then charged me for them.

So I have a charge on my credit card when they said they could not accept the credit card charge.

So they decline the charge, release the domains, and then after the domains are released, they some how feel free to charge the card?

That is bad business no matter how you look at it.

I was told I needed to open a support ticket, so I don't know where you get your info from.

I understood.

You paid for the domain names using your credit card.

The credit card was billed during your initial purchase.

Next, they have asked the photocopies of the front and back of your CC.

You did not send the requested photocopies.

Due to non-receipt of photocopies, they released the domains, and credited back the charge to your Answerable.com account.

They have acted correctly!

Now you have to request the refund. I found no issues here.

I own about 300 domains at Answerable.com. I have requested refunds in the past and received them within 2 - 5 days.

Please refer this image to locate the Refund Request Form:

How do they act correctly by returning your domains because they didn't accept the credit card and yet somehow they manage to charge the credit card after the domains are released.

You misunderstood.

Your CC was billed only during the initial registration process, and try to understand it was not billed after the domain names were released.

You did not send the photocopies of your CC, so they released the domains and credited back the initial charge.

So they managed to bill my credit card for credit to answerable but not for the domain names. That makes no sense at all.

Well,

You have used your credit card to purchase domain names right?

At that time, your credit card was charged by Answerable.com with the corresponding amount, and the corresponding domains were put into your answerable.com account.

Next they flagged your transaction for security, and asked you to send photocopies of your CC. You did not send the requested documents. So they have released the domain names from your member area, and credited the amount (initially charged) to your answerable.com account.

if you can withdraw that amount into your paypal account then it's like a free cash advance!

So, they can charge the card for credit to answerable but not for the domain names. Yeah that makes sense.

To anyone out there reading this, let that be a lesson to you not to purchase domain names from answerable.com

You could purchase a domain name, have it in your account and sell it the next day for a profit only to have answerable.com reject your credit card charge, release the domain and then bill you for it later.

Sorry, you have not tried to understand what was actually happened to you!

It is a common rule for every registrar. If they unable to process the transaction for any reason, they will refund the amount or credit back the amount to the corresponding account.

Dynadot credits the corresponding Dynadot account for unsuccessful transactions, and it does not allow the registrant to withdraw those funds.

Go Daddy automatically refunds the funds for the unsuccessful transactions.

Answerable.com credits the corresponding Answerable.com account for unsuccessful transactions, and it allows the registrant to use those funds to register other domain names or withdraw those funds.

I explained to the level best! Sorry if you still feel bad. :|

Thanks for taking the time to try and explain how you feel.

Most people in the US would be very unhappy having their transaction declined and then have their credit card billed later for store credit.

It may work that way in India, but it does not work that way here.

No your transaction was not declined initially. Your CC was authorized and billed by the payment gateway only during your initial purchase. They did not bill you later.

If that is the case, then the domains should have remained in my account, given that they billed me for them.

As it stands, I have been billed for domains names that answerable.com released days ago.

They have my money, they released my domains, and I have nothing but a debt on my credit card and credit with a registrar that has crappy customer service.

My recomendation for Np members is to stay away from this company.

Yes, you got the point.

You paid for them. They charged your credit card, and initially put the names in your account as per the initial transaction.

What happened next? They flagged that transaction for security measures, and asked you to send the photocopies of your CC for verification. You did not send them. So they have canceled the transaction, and issued the credit for that transaction. If you had sent the photocopies of your CC, the domains would have been resided in your account.

So they cancelled my transaction because they were worried about credit card fraud and yet they still billed me.

You either cancel a transaction or you don't. They didn't cancel the transaction, they approved it and billed my account, they just didn't give me the names I had purchased, instead they gave me store credit.

Have you checked you account to see if the transaction has been credited back to your answerable account??

As I said earlier, they did not bill you at a later time. They billed you during your initial purchase and put the names in your account. Try to get this point.

Later, they screened your transaction, and asked you for proof. You did not send the proof. So they canceled the transaction and released the domains. Remember, your CC was not charged at this time.

If they canceled the transaction, the credit card should not have been billed, period.
