According to one Chinese domainer Weng Chaojun’s news, a LL.TV domain, qc.tv went for six-figure fee in an auction and the buyer is an angel investor.

Qc.tv was sold in a .TV auction, with the final price of CNY 160,000.

This domain name was registered in May 2001, with a lot of meanings like 汽车Qi Che: car, 青春Qing Chun: youth, 前程 Qian Cheng: career, 钱财Qian Cai: money, 雀巢Que Chao: Nestle, 求财Qiu Cai: make fortune and so on, and it is applicable to build cars, recruitment, finance, ecommerce business and many other industries websites.

Alibaba Group spent 4.5 billion dollars on buying Tudou(tudou.com) and Youku(youku.com). iqiyi(iqiyi.com) privatization cost $2.8 billion according to Baidu Robin Li’s words. LeTV is evaluated more than billions. Behind these tremendous capitals, it indicates huge Chinese market and the rapid development of video industry. Under this market environment, many investors increasingly pay more attention to .TV domains, leading .TV domains price rise in recent years.

A few days ago it is reported another Chinese investor purchased 2.TV at a price about CNY 800,000. According to domainers’ experience, LL.TV domains are sold in general at about five- figure fee before, however nowadays if it is a premium domain, it could be sold at six figures. LLL.TV names which are sold CNY 900 before now double their prices. Some good names are raised even several times of the previous prices.

Indeed, the end-users’ domain applications give investors who are optimistic about .TV names great confidence. In some investors’ opinion, the buyer is very lucky to buy this domain since they think six figures fee is really cheap for qc.tv.

Good read. But I prefer .mobi over .tv

Mobile users are growing in rapid paste, and people are now watching shows and videos more frequently on tablets, mobile phones than on TV. So .mobi is the black horse upcoming.

I agree that people are using mobile phones more than TV.

but for Chinese, TV is an accepted common word for television. If you say mobi, some of them do not know the meaning.

No, this "rule" is used in defining premium Chinese domains like LLLL.com, the consonant letters are preferred.

One thing you shall know first is that Chinese investors have not problem with these letters themselves. The thing is that domains, with letters "aeiouv" in them which are not pinyin domains, will have less meanings than domains without these letters. So this means less end-users are suitable for this kind of domains, which lead to lower price.

Hope this is clear enough!

But how do they manage to make sense from TV if Chinese does not have V?

Why Chinese figured out only in 2015 that chips are valuable and a year ago this time they were 5% of today's prices? Why only when they needed to buy out 5L, they discovered that 5 out of 20 letters are bad premiums?

Maybe it is time to stop propagating this manipulations, as if they have some fundamental ground in Chinese culture and coming up with new story every time it is needed for buyout of new category. You represent a large company that should avoid creating an impression that you are part of it.

I have a dozen emails in my inbox from Chinese buyers today requesting domains with Vowels, and 4's

The Chinese economy is facing slowdowns due to less exports going West, looks like they need to make some webpages to sell their products to western importers.

4.cn - One of the biggest domain exchanges living off the dreaded 4, If I buy a domain from there will I die?

DN.com is using N, that is not a favored Chip letter anymore, what is the meaning of this?

.COM has vowel in it, maybe sell all .com, and buy .cn, no o

Cynthia, next time you blog, suggest that Chinese now prefer .cm to .com, because Chinese don't like "o"...

And, if you ever decide to sell DN.com domain, let me know. Even if "N" kills it, I will still pay you good money. Is 100K ok?

Does it have L,N,P,Q,R? If yes, then Cynthia wouldn't approve. Those letters hurt Chinese eyes. Rumor is there are new eye drops sold there to treat this condition...

I've had some offers on my LLL.tv that starts with BJ+C but nothing more than 3-400$ each at the moment.
