I'm experimenting with a few domains using blogger software / adsense combo.

I go 2 different routes and being a marketing man that until this outsourced all tech work, i thought i would ask if there are adverse consequences to the # 2 route.

route # 1 is using blogger software, my own domain name and my server

route # 2 is still using blogger software, still using my own domain name, but allowing blogspot to host instead of my own server

there is a feature inside blogger where you can switch from blogspot domain name to your own while still keeping them to host

it's accomplished by creating a cname alias at your registrar and traffic is redirected from your domain to the former blogspot url while still showing your bought domain name as the address

thanks for your comments

Imo, any revenue stream based on adsense is not reliable. As we have seen, till recently, Google changes it's TOS and priorities on a daily basis. The issue isn't about which servers you are on, but more on what your daily revenue sources are. Because, at the end of the day, your goal is to monetize your website to earn you some cash. And Google is someone you really cannot depend on. Ofcourse affiliate marketing is a totally different ball game where this is still much hope for webmasters.

Today Google stocks plumetted even lower to around $413. Imo, you should be able to buy their algorithmic stocks for $75 in exactly 8 months. So, its time to ponder about our best bets as a partner.

Your speaking of affiliate marketing reminds me that about 6 months ago i began noticing cpa deals in my adsense account. They may not be in all accounts but has anyone tried those. I'm not about to. Never had any luck with cpa. I prefer ppc over cpm or cpa. I have had some success in creating / marketing my own products and may try a little more along that line.

I just wondered of the aforementioned redirect posed a problem in search engine rankings.

Depends on the domain...

First thing just find some affordable hosting and host your own sites.

Also look at ebay affliate programs (Ebay is taking it inhouse as on April 1). It depends on the domain but if you can sell anything thats associated with your domain that could easily pay some bills. You can use BANS or even some easy Wordpress add-on to set up an Ebay site.

re ebay - really? i always thought i'd get around to it later, is there some serious urgency here?

after they go in-house will you be able to use BANS/ wordpress add-ons? And if you set it up before April 1, can you go on using it?

I've tried parking too (using your route #2 but felt dissappointed after over 1 month so I decided to develop the domains instead. While developing them, I'm using a combination of affiliate marketing and Google adsense.

I have my own server and host quite a few of my own domains. I generally know the tipping point where it becomes overloaded with too many concurrent users, so i figure why not go this route. But thanks for your input.
