I wanted to write this thread mainly for other people just starting out on their domain journey, also for the experienced ones amongst us on this forum as I want be honest and critical with my decision making and to learn from past mistakes. I feel by sharing a FULL list of domain purchases from when I started and highlighting the ones I will be keeping will show and hopefully help people starting how easy it is to throw money down the drain if you do not do research and learn from your mistakes!

This has cost me a fair bit of money, but as I have read on this site, it is the cost of my domain education and I do not grumble about it in the slightest as I have learned from my mistakes. My research has improved dramatically, my areas of focus are constantly being refined, I have some for the long term, some for flipping and some I will be developing. The ones highlighted are the ones I am keeping the rest will NOT be renewed.

As you will see there are misspellt words, ones that have no clear meaning or cant be branded, also what was I thinking buying all of those contact domains! Honest answer? I put them into Sedo and they showed $$$$ in value and my greedy mind went on a spree! BIG lesson learned I can tell you :xf.smile:

I created a thread earlier saying I have got a domain name for my business and how excited I am - this is genuine as going forward I am going to make more mistakes, but guess what I will learn from them and move on!

Really glad I found this site and the people on here are amazing, my advise for what its worth for people just starting is to do the research, ask questions, keep an open mind, take the feedback from people who have been doing this for a long time on board and just be positive...........

Nice to see you learning and making appropriate adjustments.

In my humble opinion, a few more should be dropped also, unless you plan/will develop them.
ex. the TRADINGPLATFORM ones.
The .com and the rest of the regged ones are for sale, only the .org is developed. So don't see why anyone would want the extensions you want to keep before any of the rest.
Just mho.

Best of domaining luck forward.

Well it's good of you to share your 'toe-testing' first registrations. But, in all honesty I really don't see anything that's going to return your spend thus far. You really have to avoid anything that your own-mind tells you is second best in extension, wording or pluralising.

it reads to me like a list of where you have put in time in random searches and then self-justified the time with a whole range of registrations. Yes, many of us did start the same way.

my advice would be try to focus on an area that you know-about or that particularly interests you personally, That way by both reading/studying the subject further and exploring the domaining angle, you can at least be working to your own forte'

Trying to capture others imagination in domains is a real test of 'self-denial' because you have to abandon anything that really doesn't cut-it. No matter how great the temptation

if you can wake-up ten mornings in a row, look at a single domain registration and say to yourself , yes, yes, yes,yes........ then you've probably got a good un

WhatsCrypto doesn't seem too bad to develop. I see potential.

Oh well, I started domaining about a year ago. And I think my biggest luck is I had only about $500 to invest in domains, at that time.

When I first skimmed your posting, I thought "why so much money on the word "contact"". because almost every website has a "contact"page..

Thinking that since "Sedo" use a algoritmn ( a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations)... they were appraised so high because it is "highly searched keyword" and or "common usage word "... (note Contact.poker not that bad...seen worse in the "poker" niche

AQ0.COM is in the process of being sold - the below I will be developing into sites

AWEINSPIRING.ORG
BUSINESSMORTGAGES.COM
LEGALAID.SITE
FINANCEINDUSTRY.NET

The rest nothing - I am in the process of setting up a linked in page, they are all listed on Sedo, GoDaddy, Afternic and have landing pages on undeveloped

Once my linked in page is set up will be doing some outbound on all contact names and the others - as you say Contact has high word volume hence the "value" and see if i get any joy

Also have good looking logo done by @BOB Designs under the named chilled domains / also own chilled domain
so going forward with a good company name and some branding behind it I hopefully can push some of these on!

Thanks for all the input so far from everyone - really appreciate it!!
