Alexa Rank vs Backlinks

When purchasing expired domains, which value should I consider more:

Alexa Rank or Backlinks.

I'm thinking about parking this domain and sell it in the long run.
Please be specific about your answer and any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So I should pay attention to Backlinks. However I used estibot and it gave me some crazy numbers:1,158 backlinks. But when I used iwebtool for backlink search it gave me zero, nothing. :td: So does this mean never rely on estibot even for the numbers of backlinks it provided?

Also is iwebtool a reliable source?

estibot still needs some tweaks.. I wouldn't rely on them. Try seologs.com

backlinks will disappear over time. Don't use these as the only measure of whether to buy and keep names for the long run. If you don't intend to develop and your selling point is purely based on parking revenue derived from backlinks, then value will probably decline the longer you keep it.

What is the general time frame of backlinks when they are parked. I just bought a domain and it has about 1000+ backlinks (According to Estibot). I will just park it for now until I figure out what to do with it later.

Backlink is important point to consider but the quality of back link is more important. I mean, you need to go more details to see what kind of sites are linking... if they link to the great site with traffics, yes, it is a good domain for ppc. I own some domains that bring xxxx monthly for pcc

EstiBot calculates the backlinks using several services, including Yahoo. In EstiBot you can click the "Backlinks" link on the results page, and a new window will open which will show you the Yahoo backlinks to your domain.

Determining backlinks is not a science. All search engines and Alexa are lacking in this respect. Different webmasters like to use different search engines, but Yahoo is considered the "golden standard", although it is far from being a complete resource in this respect, and sometimes gives pretty wild numbers.

These shortcomings are the reason why EstiBot will not place much $$ value on backlinks alone.

I would put more attention on the backlinks. They get the traffic. If you have a name with 1000+ backlinks, expect good traffic.

Alexa rank most of the times is redirected, simply because good names with high rank don't drop all of a sudden

You are right. I found this problem too. That is reason why I develop an expired domain search with a tool to find out that they are real one or just redirect.

Alexa rankings are worthless. All it takes is a few individuals with the toolbar to completely skew the results.
