Dynadot โ€” .com Transfer

Afternic suspends my account due to violation

Hello Np'ers,

I listed Crypto/Gamers.com for $1,600 BIN and it was sold at afternic.com

I transferred the domain to LCN.com a day ago it sold and it has 60 days lockin period.

I informed buyer to create an account at lcn.com,so i can push immediately but buyer keeps initiating transfer at name.com, so i contacted afternic agent and informed about the ICANN 60 days lock period.

I clearly mentioned that i can't wait 60 days to complete the deal because domain trend is up and down but i can wait upto 15 days to create an account and get a push to lcn.com. I also emailed the same to buyer.

After 25 days i got offer of $2,500 from whois email and i sold to another buyer.

Afternic suspends my account due to violation of afternics tos :sour::meh:

JYI: I sold crypto/game.com for $85k at afternic.

I have received many offers @ afternic, possibly they will loose my sales commission :-P

There is no loss to me because if buyer needs the domain, he will come through my landing page / whois / sedo etc.,

What do you think about it?

Sounds like you're banned permanently... right? Or no?

Whatever, i don't worry about it.

You're not a man of your word

I didn't agree to wait for 60 days to complete the deal.

I told afternic agent to cancel the deal if buyer didn't accept push but agent keep refused me to cancel the deal.

I believe it's not my fault, buyer should create an account at lcn.com and get push then he could transfer.

If buyer went offline and he will return after 5 months, should you wait to deliver the domain?!

Why afternic not taking control of domain through their lcn account and release fund to seller,

while using sedo multiple transaction locking period was more than 30-40 days then sedo taken control of the domain and released the fund to me.

I'm curious what were the terms of the purchase? Did you make any specifications on time tables?

I didn't agree to wait for 60 days to complete the deal.

When you signup at Afternic, you have agreed to all of that. You violated their TOS. They suspended your account. Plain and simple. I have not read their TOS completely. Maybe you can read it. Not my headache

"You agree that sales and purchases you make through the site are binding agreements between you and the other party immediately when: (a) an offer is submitted that is at least the listing's buy now price; (b) an offer expires that is at least the listing's reserve price; (c) the buy now price is reduced to the amount of a current offer; OR (d) both parties have completed any step of a transaction"

I told afternic agent to cancel the deal if buyer didn't accept push but agent keep refused me to cancel the deal.

"Seller is prohibited from rejecting/cancelling a completed sale to a buyer once a buyer commits to the purchase of a Listed Domain by clicking the 'confirmation' button on the Afternic, BuyDomains or Reseller/Partner site"

I believe it's not my fault, buyer should create an account at lcn.com and get push then he could transfer.

Why are you allowed to dictate what the buyer should do? The buyer bought your domain at BIN.
It is their choice whether to accept a push or wait for 60 days to transfer the domain name to another registrar.

If someone buys your domain name at a BIN price and if you don't honor the deal, you will be banned at most of the marketplaces. Be it Sedo, Afternic, GoDaddy, etc.

You are just coming off a few big sales, you should have honored your deal for 60 days according to their terms, the +/- $1K is not going to make, or break you in the long run.

Ask any of these guys who have parked landers, yet their domains keep selling thru afternic, what that value is worth.

Afternic does not have an account at LCN.com

One more reason why we need to use our sales landers and set our own rules instead of being forced to follow a random xx-paged TOS rules.

You didn't follow Afternic's TOS, so they banned you, that's right.

just because 1K you might loose future potential sales :D

Buyer can do whatever he like but seller should be paid on time. Sedo is doing it. Afternic should get domain from seller and hold 60 days or 600 days behalf of buyer and then transfer to buyer's choice of registrar.

Why seller should wait 60 days to get his funds for the domain is sold ?!

price is not a matter here. even it's not sold @ $2,500, i wouldn't agree to transfer the domain after 60 days because i informed afternic agent that i couldn't wait 60 days. Isn't clear !?

Afternic = eyes on your domains. Without Afternic you will just have to hope a buyer wants your domain enough that they come to the landing page

With an $85k sale under your belt you might feel confident about that, however if that $85k sale came from someone who saw your domain listed on Afternic then your new strategy may have a bit of a flaw.

Isn't Afternic GoDaddy? I'm pretty sure if you just open a new account they won't have a meltdown over it.

This what i mean, you already got trust and reputation on your afternic account, not to mention your personal effort of promoting your afternic url.

It does not matter if you agree or not. You violated their TOS. They banned you. Serves you right. Also, it's not your own marketplace. You can't create your own rules. If you don't abide by their rules, you will be suspended. Simple as that.

price is not a matter here

I am sure if you had a BIN price of $50000 and someone bought your domain for 50K, you would have no problem waiting for 60 days. So, please don't talk about your ethics here.:xf.wink:

Too late, but still:

If the .com/.net domain was recently transferred-in, then the new registrar indeed has right to lock the domain for 60 days, but has no obligation to do so. @ramkumaritrvs should have contacted LCN registrar, explain the situation and it is very likely that the domain would have been unlocked for transfer with authcode provided. So the original sale might have been successfully completed on afternic platform.

If the domain is .org, or if it was registered within the last 60 days - then there is no way to transfer it away from the current registrar, as it is locked on registry level.

Sorry about that bro

No hard feelings.

I stopped using flippa couple of years back and my sales didn't slow down. Same with afternic too.

Just want to hear the feedback from the community that i grown. That's why i started this thread.

Another reason why you should not have buy it nows set. Especially on newly registered names.

While you did something against the terms of service and should have set your lander up according to when it was moveable I think youโ€™ll be just fine without afternic.

More shocking how many people act like itโ€™s the end all be all to have names on Afternic. A good name will get eyes anywhere itโ€™s listed. Try Undeveloped and your own pages and donโ€™t set buy it nowsโ€” then you are not committed.
