By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

Is there an issue with transfers at godaddy, like transfer via afternic completed within 30 mins but system does not say transfer is not complete. Now godaddy transfer outs, you cannot quick release them. Seems like whole transfer system not working properly for notifications.

Yup. I sold a domain two days ago and it was successfully transferred to GoDaddy (as per whois) from Spaceship (I obviously expedited the transfer), but 48 hours later it is still showing "Transfer Pending" status at Afternic.

I'm getting serious Sedo vibes (nothing is fixed during holidays), and that is not a compliment

.ad also works... so perhaps they meant "any ccTLD", cause it doesn't work for gTLDs not listed at GoDaddy.

Just received another one email with an Authorization Request for a domain name with a Status : NOT LISTED !

Once again, I added a domain to the Afternic and made it - Not Listed in my account.

So how and why are you still emailing me with your Authorization Requests for this domain name ???

*To clear the things out - the domain was added to my account and set as NOT LISTED 5 months ago !!!

What's the price at 101domain, any added markup? (not counting the fact that they are on the expensive side when it comes to .fi domains)

edit: I checked one .si domain (Agentic, not mine) and apparently there's no markup

There is usually a markup at 101domain. Also I believe if make offer enabled the broker should still be able to setup the transaction internally

Has anyone ever received an email like this? It is for an expired domain which I put into "delisted" status some time ago. Its the first time for me getting such email, I wonder could it be because someone inquired about the domain so Afternic wanted to check with me if I still have it?... Or there is no conneection and these things just happen sometimes?

I got one a few hours ago (2 recently expired domains).

Afternic Nameserver Penalties Disadvantage GoDaddy Registrants

Same marketplace, same sale, same price… but GoDaddy users pay more. Here’s why:

1. At GoDaddy:
   Once a domain goes on hold GoDaddy locks the nameservers. Registrants cannot switch to Afternic NS at that point.
2. At other registrars (Dynadot, NameSilo, Namecheap, etc.):
   When a domain is on hold at Afternic, nameserver changes are still allowed, so sellers can switch to Afternic NS immediately and avoid the NS penalty.

Result:
The Afternic NS penalty commissions hit GoDaddy users harder, simply because GoDaddy blocks the very action Afternic requires to avoid penalties.

Real-world example:



Has Afternic or GoDaddy offered any explanation for why their own customers are being uniquely affected by this system? Why are we being incentivized to leave GoDaddy?

I thought the Afternic commission was calculated at the time of the actual sale. So even if the domain name was at another registrar that allows NS changes while a name is on HOLD at Afternic, the commission would have already been calculated before having a chance to update NS.

Does anyone know if it's true that if your name is at a non-GoDaddy registrar, and Afternic puts the name on Hold (sale agreement), that you can still change the NS to avoid the 10% penalty?

At the point the buyer completes the sale sale, Afternic logs the nameservers, then you're notified, it would not be possible to front run the process to change the nameservers and avoid the commission fee.

Thanks -- this is exactly how I thought it worked too. That post seemed to imply that there was a window to modify the NS. But that's not true.

Yes, I've seen that happen many times. Not pretty. It can cause some stress for sure (not that GoDaddy would care).

Isn't it when domain expired the fast transfer will be disabled ONLY, And domain will still be available for sale for sometimes till redemption period !
Why afternic claiming that domains became "Not available for sale" !??

This 39 domains recently expired , Not newly listed .
So they should stay listed without fast transfer till redemption period . This what i mean .
But they mentioned domains not listed .
