Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

The results you are getting depends on your status = Boosted or not !

.
What? I go to Godaddy and type in tech and then the names posted. Not replicating it

Also, why is Aftermarket even picked? Most people just go to GoDaddy and do a search, default search

I used Boost for two weeks and noticed my sales actually dropped instead of improving. When I switched back to the regular setting, my sales immediately picked up again. A GoDaddy insider even admitted that several of his clients experienced the same thing โ€” so honestly, Boost seems like a complete waste of time and money.

@domainer8888 did the experiment and selected aftermarket , he thought on aftermaket more possibility for his domains to appear , because searching on normal search ( none aftermarket ) you will get random misspelled domains to hand reg and other garbage tlds to select from .
Even though aftermarket was selected, still it showed only results for namefind domains !!

And you see that yourself?

Is it tech or tech + keyword?

I tried both and just not seeing it. So Iโ€™m curious if other people actually looked themselves and replicating it.

So youโ€™re going to the aftermarket section, typing in tech and only seeing namefind domains?

Ten month ago i raised this question, why there is aftermarket section if most searchers/buyers will not recognize it ?
But nobody cares !

@GoDaddy
Yes exactly we need logical answer for that ?
Most buyers will not go to click on aftermarket to search there, if our domains are boosted it must show up in results everywhere without limitation .

My question is

โ€œSo youโ€™re going to the aftermarket section, typing in tech and only seeing namefind domains?โ€

I canโ€™t replicate it. But thatโ€™s what you see?

ofcorse you cant replicate it , GoDaddy results is different & vary every time and depends on your location .

when i put tech, i picked two domains of two words , yes one was a namefind domain and other was for hugedomain !

by the way hugedomain will not list with godaddy unless there is a deal & they give them some priority .

So on both cases we are cooked !

It is impossible that boost reduces sales, but it does not help increasing sales either.. it is just a useless feature.

However I noticed lately that boost improves search position for non .com domains when the location is US. But I am not sure if it helps in sales because the boosted positions are not in top 5 results.

For .com domains they always show in position #1 for exact match search (without extension) when the location is US only with or without boost.

Hand reg options and zillions of new tlds dominate in GD search results.

With Godaddy devs anything is possible. Especially if itโ€™s unintentional.

@GoDaddy We're still seeing a huge 20s delay when adding a domain to the cart from the custom lander. How many of your departments have already examined this, and why is this issue dragging on? Has anyone pinpointed the cause yet?
@GoDaddy There is still a 19-20s delay. Will this issue ever be resolved, or don't you care at all?

Exactly.

@GoDaddy Please fix as follows:
  1. CSV upload should check TXT/NS verification immediately, and (really) add all domains having successful verification records.
  2. CSV upload_results should not say 'ADD_PROCESSED' for domains that were not added. That's misleading.
Also, this issue remains unresolved, unfortunately. Very disappointed.

Theyโ€™ve A/B tested it against 2 minutes and 20 secs was a winner.
And also, although they've taken you're comments into consideration, unfortunately you're wrong.

Afternic Nameserver Penalties Disadvantage GoDaddy Registrants

Same marketplace, same sale, same priceโ€ฆ but GoDaddy users pay more. Hereโ€™s why:
  1. At GoDaddy:
Once a domain goes on hold GoDaddy locks the nameservers. Registrants cannot switch to Afternic NS at that point.
  2. At other registrars (Dynadot, NameSilo, Namecheap, etc.):
When a domain is on hold at Afternic, nameserver changes are still allowed, so sellers can switch to Afternic NS immediately and avoid the NS penalty.
Result:
The Afternic NS penalty commissions hit GoDaddy users harder, simply because GoDaddy blocks the very action Afternic requires to avoid penalties.

Real-world example:

Portfolio: 5,000 domains
Sell-through rate: 2 percent โ†’ 100 sales per year
Average sale price: $2,000
Standard Afternic commission: 15 percent
Nameserver penalty: +10 percent
Portion of portfolio not on Afternic NS: 50 percent โ†’ roughly 50 sales affected

Baseline, no penalties:
100 sales ร— $2,000 = $200,000 in gross sales
15 percent commission = $30,000 paid to Afternic

With GoDaddyโ€™s nameserver lock:
If 50 of those sales trigger the nameserver penalty:

50 penalized sales ร— $2,000 ร— 10 percent = $10,000 extra in commissions

So instead of $30,000 in commissions, the seller pays $40,000.

Thatโ€™s a $10,000 increase in total commissions, caused entirely by GoDaddy preventing its own registrants from switching to Afternic NS when the domain enters hold status.

A seller with the same 5,000-name portfolio at Dynadot, NameSilo, or Namecheap would avoid this extra $10,000 because those registrars let you update NS during the hold period.

Has Afternic or GoDaddy offered any explanation for why their own customers are being uniquely affected by this system? Why are we being incentivized to leave GoDaddy?

Afternic Nameserver Penalties Disadvantage GoDaddy Registrants

Afternicโ€™s recent nameserver penalties create a structural problem for GoDaddy users that doesnโ€™t exist at other large registrars.

Result:
The Afternic NS penalty commissions hit GoDaddy users more often, simply because GoDaddy blocks the very action Afternic requires to avoid penalties.

Do you think godaddy cares if customers at disadvantage and losing !!?
Most important to godaddy not customers, but the shareholders and making profit, And anything else to go to hell .

Show attachment 287355

Maybe I'm missing something here, but couldn't there have been 2 searches on that domain over the past week you've had it listed on GD?

After all, it's the exact same number (2) across the board.

Is anyone else having a handful of their names set to BIN/LTO show this lander instead?
