Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

They haven't even updated the appraisal tool in years.

It has no idea about all the amazing .ai sales in recent years.

People don't understand that the state of the appraisal tool is not due to negligence, it is deliberate. Just as it was a decision to not include any sales over 25k in the data. This is not a new phenomenon, this has nothing to do with outdated data. In all these years there has never been an attempt to defend this tool by GoDaddy publicly. It has a purpose, and it is functioning exactly as it should be. Just not for us.

As far as I know it was already like this is the past, as long as your value was higher than their stupid estimate you were good. GoDaddy always tweaking stuff with zero notice to domain owners then when we complain "Oh we were just running A/B tests" Only company I know that runs more tests than anyone unfortunately their usually by accident, clown show. :clown:

I have the dan.com lander on nearly all my domains. I set prices on a couple unpriced domains earlier in the week; the pricing has not yet shown up on the lander.
It turns out that setting a price for a domain or enabling lease to own no longer means it will automatically appear on the domainโ€™s landing page as it once did. It appears that you now need to also click on the domain, click Lander Settings, scroll to Custom Lander Options at the bottom, select Buy It Now + Lease To Own*, and click Save.

Everything is true. What are they working on? This problem only appeared a week ago. Previously, if the minimum offer was higher then their "estimated value" and "why it's great" column, they worldn't show it.

These new Request price landers are pretty nice. Though not sure about afternic being the URL. Could seem like a fake GD page to the uninformed. Tempted to give them a try nonetheless.

Yeah they need to make Afternic the place where domainers list their domains for sale but since Afternic has zero usage to an end user they need to adapt GoDaddy across the board on the landers regardless of which ya lander ya use and stop the brand confusion as Afternic is nothing to brag about as been a bug fest for decades.

Domainers list @Afternic
Landing pages show @GoDaddy

No need for 2 brands on the same page. Powered by GoDaddy beats Powered by Afternic with their hideous dated logo. Logo looks like their business plan, 2 arrows/directions of confusion. The 2 arrows are them trying to decide if they should raise or lower their boost commission.

For now, they're making Afternic a place where domainers UNLIST their domains.

Agreed. For clarity,

Afternicโ€™s Trustpilot score is 2.7 (poor), so thereโ€™s that too. Has GoDaddy ever run A/B tests where they show Afternicโ€™s score? Sure, showing it is intuitively counterproductive but that has never stopped them before.

I finally unlisted everything.
Hi @Jannes,
When the minimum offer is higher than the estimated value, the estimate shouldnโ€™t be displayed โ€” weโ€™re in the process of updating that.

To be clear โ€” you're seeing this for domains only without a Buy it Now price set. If your domain has a Buy it Now price set through Afternic and that price is higher than the estimated value, the estimated value wonโ€™t display.

There's an easy way to reduce the steps involved in setting your preferred lander option. You can set your default preferences on the Sales Lander Settings page. Once thatโ€™s done, any new domains you add โ€” as long as theyโ€™re using Afternic nameservers โ€” will automatically display your chosen Afternic lander. For the Custom Lander, your saved settings will be applied as well.

You can also update your default Lease to Own settings directly from that same page.

Thanks, @King! We're currently testing this new Request Price lander design, so youโ€™ll see it appear for a portion of visits to domains using the Request Price lander.

For now, the URL will remain on Afternic.com โ€” but once we officially switch to the new design, the Request Price lander will move over to GoDaddy URLs.

Estimated value shouldn't be shown at all when the price is not set. You're either killing the first offer (above case) or the upside.

Of course the elephant in the room is how incredibly bad, biased and outdated those estimates are. In the case of .ai domains, it's like asking Mike Mann's opinion.

Agreed, never been a fan of TrustPilot . Maybe a startup needs something but once you're even partially established I'd pull that stuff off as even if the ratings are okay the day you go to sell a big domain there will always be a few insane reviews in the first group of them that pops up where you're debating if they even visited
the right site based on their review.

@GoDaddy this is minor but I had another lead come in, Self Brokered.

So under Sales, when you click Self-Brokered Leads, you see nothing, it goes to Needs Attention by default. Then you have Favorites, then Sale Pending, then at the end you have More and a dropdown where you need to click All to finally see the lead.

So the lead should be there right after you click Self Brokered Leads, it's active, instead of hiding out at the end in the dropdown menu. Like I said, minor thing.
