Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Thanks for the clarification James!
I think it would be great if that lander was available with self-brokerage.
Many domainers used "Price request" pages on Dan.com.
Thanks for the feedback, @Timkh. Request Price for Self-Brokerage isn't on the radar at the moment. By design, Request Price has a wide funnel, with no pre-qualification. Instead, the post-inquiry survey and broker review process handle filtering and qualification at later stages. Many sellers have hundreds or even thousands of Request Price inquiries each month, so that structure is intentional.

Our focus for Self-Brokerage has been on Make Offer, since they include two layers of pre-qualification - the buyer submits an offer and verifies their email. That extra intent signal helps ensure the leads you receive are already showing meaningful interest.

A sale I made earlier this week completed the transfer successfully, but the payment hasnโ€™t been sent yet. I spoke with an Afternic agent (Angel) who confirmed thereโ€™s currently a system issue affecting multiple accounts and delaying payouts. @GoDaddy
Hi @SuperPorky,
Weโ€™ve replied to your DM. Glad to see Afternic Support was already on it - apologies for the delay on our side.

Somehow I never realized setting LTO to 13 mos (or more) is better than 12 mos. Seems like others knew, but just in case there are others like me

Thanks for sharing, @NameGroove!

Commission discounts start kicking in at 13 months and reach a 15% discount at 37 months. Two common maximum term lengths sellers choose are 13 and 25 months - though buyers can always select a shorter term if they prefer.

What percentage of buyers are so stupid that they choose 13 or 25 months?

According to some sellers - 13 mos is very popular and chosen often.

That said, perhaps it would behoove GD to figure out a way to modify service fees so what you showed doesn't happen. Perhaps 5% for 13 mos and 15% for 25 (or just don't make 13 and 25 an option and start at 14 and 26). NOTE: I didn't run the calcs with my suggestions...

My interpretation is that many buyers donโ€™t understand they can choose a shorter period than the max set by the seller. Maybe โ€pick the priceโ€ isnโ€™t clear enough.

You also pay the paypal fee or wire transfer fee for Each months Installment so 12 or 60 it still doesnt make any Extra $$ for Sellers , Basically service fee might cover the Withdrawl fee

Hi guys,

I have an interesting situation with Afternic .

Some prick have listed one of my domains with the Afternic and set a joke price.
I received an email about this listing from the Godaddy with two links.

First one is a text - "Authorize your participation in Afternic."

Second one is on a button - "Authorize Now"

It looks the Godaddy has formatted this email that way intentionally to increase a possibility of accidental click.

So when I tried to copy a text - "Authorize your participation in Afternic" I clicked it accidentally. I've closed opened web browser right away.

I wanted to copy the text to paste it in a chat with Afternic support.

So as a result my domain was listed.

I asked Afternic support to remove this listing because it wasn't me who listed it.

An answer was - "You need to register with Afternic and pass through some verification process to remove it..."

They were forcing me to register with them. I declined it because I don't need it and I have already had an extremely bad experience with them..So they declined to remove it.

Finally I found login/pass for my old account with the Afternic and tried to add my domain to my account using TXT record but I was unable to do it because of some issue with system update or sync update and I need to wait up to 48 hours.

The main reason I worried about is Fast-Transfer. Previously I had an issue with this option exactly ...

What if Fast-Transfer is enabled ? What if the domain name was listed intentionally to steal it paying few coins ?

I spent 5 hours on Sunday before the issue was solved instead of spending my time with my family.

The Afternic support said - we cannot verify an ownership while somebody adds a domain name to the Afternic because of a huge quantity of requests. But if you need to remove a domain name from the system you need to be registered with the Afternic and pass a domain verification by adding a special TXT record in DNS settings...

This is hell.
To remove my domain which was listed by somebody else I have to have an account with them and verify the ownership of my domain that was listed by some prick without verification.

I don't want to have anything related to the Afternic - "I don't want to touch this even with a 16-meter pole."

What do you think ?

Just checked again and no surprise the domain is listed again.

Without my permissions.

And I'm wasting my time chatting with support again.

Today it took me almost 2 hours to get a message from the Godaddy support - "it was removed and blocked pls wait for 24 hours"

The same domain is listed for the second time during three days.

First time it was listed on Sunday and then removed.

Second time it was listed today and it is still listed.

I didn't list it.

It was listed by somebody else.

So someone is trying to sell my domain name without my permissions and the Godaddy and the Afternic accept it.

What the hell is going on ????

Scammers do that all the time.
They list names they don't own for sale.

Market places should BAN such accounts when they are discovered.

Meantime, you should list the domain name in YOUR Afternic account and then UNLIST it instead of just deleting it.

That way, the scammer won't be able to list it on Afternic again because it'll show as already listed.

Also, consider transfering the domain name out of GoDaddy.

I don't want to LIST or UNLIST anything.

I don't want to deal with the Afternic at all.

You think it is normal to force me to register and list then unlist then dance with a tambourine around ?

I don't think it is a normal situation. It is not normal at all.

It is the issue they have to solve not me.

This is what happens when listing for the first time doesn't require verification. GoDaddy doesn't care about the consequences and some seasoned domainers don't want mandatory verification because listing without it is so f*cking convenient. :banghead:

GoDaddy/Afternic wants everyone to at least list and then unlist so that domains remain in their database and they can show the inflated number of domains to their shareholders.

Deepest sympathies is great but what to do ?

upd.

I had no choice and they finally won after several hours of wasting time in chat.
Used my old account and added my domain then did unlist it

I though it was the deepest hell but then their support knocked from below...

@Afternic I have a domain that received an $X,XXX offer 2 days ago. The offer expires in 5 days. I can't accept the offer as I don't use self-brokerage so I added the floor and bin as requested. Then...crickets.

I have been unable to get any response from the assigned broker after sending at least 3 follow up messages in the portal. I hate to say it but your service is horrible on this one. I could post the screenshots but I'll hold off.

Your service really needs to improve. This flaw is why many customers, including long time customers like myself, are/will be, looking elsewhere due to frustration with your process and lack of professional communication.

I have now used the contact form as instructed by your automated system. We'll see.

When i check about a domain and i see afternic price request lander and clearly mentioned ( this domain is available for sale ) , Then i used to go direct to godaddy search to know the listed price or minimum offer .
But to see afternic request price lander and godaddy search result showing domain taken !! This new model for me & strange !!!
Note : The domain is not mine .

Seems like yet another experiment since the broker service fee is so low.

(itโ€™s not a bad idea to better respect the lander choice, imo)

A potential buyer should be able to find away to see the bin price easy without applying the form , They could buy it direct from search result if the price is there and domain show available ''not taken'' .
incase if they didn't like the price then they can apply the form to negotiate .
in the example above it is a hopeless case for both ''domain taken'' , Buyer lost hope to buy and seller lost chance to sell .

Follow up from broker....
Hello David, I am still working on this, the buyer has been unresponsive so far but I'm still chasing them. Kind Regards,

(Problem is, not only did I not receive any response yesterday, the buyer received no call either according to log. They dropped the ball.)

Response from me...
In the absence of an actual call log I have no choice but to accept your explanation that this buyer made a valid offer and then did not respond. Makes no sense. The buyer probably received no quick response.

Please keep in mind that I pay GoDaddy a significant commission and in return I EXPECT top notch service, top notch communication, and results.

Should I not receive any response to my messages again, without apology and explanation, I will be forced to seek better service.

(It shouldn't be this hard.)
