Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

We're glad we got this completed - thanks for your patience!
Thanks for the fix! What delightful surprise are you cooking up next?

More fluff in Afternic responses.

1. Users should be able to control how often and for how long such AUTOMATED follow ups take place. There is no switch to turn that feature off per domain, or per account. If you need a few reasons why such automated follow-ups can be dangerous and bad for the domain seller, we need a new thread. But the beef I have is when the broker promises to turn it off and they do not. I know why: Because middle management doesn't give a flying f*ck about what users want.

2. You guys are even resurrecting 2 year old domain inquiries, it's pathetic.

I feel like afternic is not getting leads like it used to, as my sedo inquiries are way up, more than usual, usually there are norms, but this is way outside that. Also I am not verry happy with having my leads being cross marketed cheaper GTLD's instead of my domains. You are taking in marketing dollars from these companies then using our traffic to help us lose a sale. I suggest you pick a lane, before you lose your base. Thanks for listening.

literally don't have money to renew these, if any of these do not convert,

Just want an honest answer to this question :

Are the GD brokers really putting the real honest effort on the leads that could justify 20% commission ?

Depressing times, I have lost hope. :(

all I get is :

Low quality lead score based on data endpoints - automation only until engagement from inquirer

Inquirer was not looking to purchase the domain name. They either indicated this immediately after filling out the form or after receiving an email/phone call.

All my money is tied to domains right now, I will literally be fuked if I do not get a sale soon. Time is ticking for me. :(

If a little more effort from the brokers could get me a sale, I will be really THANKFUL to them.

Otherwise, I am screwed.

Move to Spaceship! :) I did this, and I'm so happy with it now. They have high commissions, and they can be a pain to their customers in many ways. Unless they update themselves, they'll continue to lose customers.

I am in the process of doing the same. Really enjoying the Spaceship UI.

I can't quite understand what Afternic agents do. At Spaceship, every buyer deals with you directly. This is a huge advantage. You can talk to them immediately and whenever you want. I've had agents wait days, even weeks, for me at Afternic. Some even tried to teach me their job. :) It's funny. But I guess they were just being "the only" in the market and were acting comfortably.

That's not the case anymore! Spaceship, just like Dan.com, will change many balances.

It's not just the agent issues; the payment methods, the payment processing interface, the delays in transactions, the high commissions, etc., are all reasons enough for people to avoid Afternic.

Are they willing to improve themselves? I doubt it! If that were the case, they would at least be as practical as they were after acquiring Dan.com. Always slow and high commissions! Few payment options... These are too late for 2025... Perhaps that's why Spaceship is growing so quickly. People were looking for a quality alternative, and they found it.

The Afternic/Godaddy team needs to recognize where they went wrong and update themselves to win back their customers!

Thanks. Weโ€™ve put in a request for review and will keep following up with our team about the front-of-site stats for aftermarket listings, too. We appreciate your patience.

any update for us on this?

There's a strong risk all these continued emails will cause GoDaddy/Afternic to be marked as spam more often, which has a detrimental effect on all their email communications.

Maybe our liaison can step in.

I've got plenty in my account that are well past 2 years initial inquiry and their still spamming the dead horse.

Has anyone ever made a sale on one of these exhumed Zombie Leads?

Not me, and in fact, I've never even got a single new offer.

Yes well GoDaddy can suspend any domain registered with them for spam activities and give the registrant serious financial penalties or even cancel the domain. It's in their ToS:

https://www.godaddy.com/en-uk/legal/agreements/universal-terms-of-service-agreement

We encourage all customers and recipients of email generated from our products and services to report suspected spam. Suspected abuse can be reported by email or through our Spam Abuse Complaint Center.
Liquidated Damages. You agree that we may immediately terminate any Account which we believe, in our sole and absolute discretion, is transmitting or is otherwise connected with any spam or other unsolicited bulk email. In addition, if actual damages cannot be reasonably calculated then you agree to pay us liquidated damages in the amount of $1.00 for each piece of spam or unsolicited bulk email transmitted from or otherwise connected with your Account.

This policy and penalty came up on here before, when someone got hit with a spam penalty or warning from GoDaddy - and people asked the question whether it was safe to set up a GoDaddy registered domain for email and then contact potential buyers using an email on the domain you hope to sell. Godaddy allegations of spamming could result in losing a domain - Afternic beware.
