Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Has the LTO buyer already paid this particular installment?

yes
its paid.
but they have deadline to pay. if they pay by deadline then lto date needs to be respected.

with dan it was always on time

I dont get the purpose of putting pay date 28 if client is not paid on 28

@GoDaddy

Will domains priced above $100K be able to have LTO anytime soon?
When we added LTO, we needed to add a price limit to ensure we understand any inherent risks before going higher. There are no plans to immediately increase that LTO threshold, but we'll continue monitoring and assessing LTO.

If you listed your domains on Afternic but are no longer using their DNS, e.g. because they resolve to Sedo landers, be warned:

GoDaddy now displays the minimum offer only, even if that domain carries a BIN on Afternic.
They also display an "Estimated Value" for the domain which is the real cherry on the pie as it undermines the seller's preferred (asking) price.

One solution: Delete the domain from Afternic.

GoDaddy reps will come here and state they are doing A/B testing for best performance or testing new features etc. when in fact, this is a dick move.

A lot of domain investors list their domains across several marketplaces. GoDaddy is the only one that penalizes sellers for not using its DNS, with a 30% fee should a sale occur. So domain investors raise their GoDaddy listings by that much, in case the domain sells via the BIN option.

It appears that GoDaddy now picks these listings that don't use GoDaddy DNS and switches on the "make offer" option only. On top of that, the "estimated value" creates a sticky scenario for the buyer, as estimates are (surprise!) based on the lacking GD estimator tool. This way the seller has to go back to GD and negotiate a sale.

I think it's a shitty way to do business but hardly a shocker.

So I have domains at Afternic and Sedo that are not using Afternic NS. When I go to GD and look in reg path, it shows solely a BIN. When exactly does GD force MO? When the two prices are inequal? Or?

So you mean all domains listed at afternic with BIN but using ATOM or SEDO or SPACESHIP landers will display the price as a minimum offer at godaddy !!??

I have domains that are listed with Custom lander (BIN + Make offer) and on SAW DNS, where the lander is not matching the BIN on Afternic. These domains, in the GD search path, appear as "Make offer" only and there's a "Estimated Value" sticker below the minimum asking price. Your mileage might vary, which is exactly why GD is playing these games.

I haven't been able to find any of my names doing that. I do believe Acroplex has some... which is disconcerting. But I haven't found any. I should note I have no BIN + MO listings. All my listings are either BIN or MO. Maybe that is the issue?

Your Afternic account currently has one domain name listed with a Buy It Now (BIN) price, while the rest are unpriced - these unpriced domains will show a Make Offer option at GoDaddy; something we've always done with unpriced domain listings.

The domain with a BIN price is live and showing up correctly on GoDaddy Search with your set price.

If the price you listed on Afternic is $10000, and the buyer bids $10000, will Godaddy's agent contact the seller only saying that the buyer only bids $2000, and will they make a profit on the price difference?

I have had many experiences negotiating with Afternic agents before, and I always feel like there is a price difference

First of all, that BIN priced domain is an ongoing test.

Second, changing the tested domain to BIN + Make offer kept the offer only being displayed in searches. It seems your sync is way to slow to be of any use for us to deduce what is going on.

Thirdly, the issue was reported by other investors to me and I reproduced it. If the glitch is now gone, according to you, then once again you introduced and removed a feature that caused the glitch.

Lastly, why would you introduce an "Estimated Value" on a sales page, especially one that displays "Make offer"? There is absolutely no need to tell the buyer how much a domain is worth, according to your lacking tool. But even more important, why can't I, the seller, turn that feature off for my domains?

GoDaddy, you are a disgrace of a domain platform. I have now removed all my domains from your platform.

Thatโ€™s nasty work.
If youโ€™re the seller, not having control over something that shapes buyer perception (and potentially weakens your negotiating position) is terrible.

Itโ€™s like someone hanging a giant โ€œThis is what we think itโ€™s worth!โ€ sign over your shop window when you never asked for it.

Hi

if... they had such a glitch, that could find other glitches, and fix them too...
then damn, they wouldn't need no cs reps or techs :)

maybe they are saving their jobs by not letting that ai thingy get to work on such issues >

imo...

Our goal in the aftermarket is to help domain investors sell more domains.

If you have a BIN priced domain that is not showing correctly on GoDaddy Search, then that is an issue and not something intentional.

For those who have worked with the community team before, you know we take issues seriously and act on them. The only way we can do that is if you share the exact details when you see a problem so we can investigate and fix it for everyone.

If others have noticed similar behavior, please DM us with examples so we can get to the bottom of it quickly.
