Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Weโ€™re introducing the latest feature for domain name sellers: Self-Brokerage. This innovative system combines the best of Afternic, Uniregistry, and Dan.com, allowing you to choose to directly negotiate with buyers from Custom Lander leads.

Exclusively available to members of GoDaddyโ€™s Discount Domain Clubโ€™s top tier, this DIY option puts you in the driverโ€™s seat of your domain deals.

Setting up Self-Brokerage at Afternic:
We work with domain investors of all experience levels and want to ensure smooth, successful negotiations for both buyers and sellers.
Approximately 100,000 members have access to Self-Brokerage already, as members of Discount Domain Clubโ€™s highest tier. To begin using Self-Brokerage:

Connect your account
  1. Head to the Afternic.com, and click "Sign in." Then, click "Sign in with GoDaddy"
  2. Youโ€™ll be prompted to sign in to your GoDaddy account. Use your GoDaddy username and password associated with your DDC membership to sign in
  3. Next, click "Continue" on the "Connect your account to Afternic" page
  4. Select "Link my existing account." Sign-in with your Afternic credentials. After successful sign-in, your Afternic account will be linked to your GoDaddy account
  5. Youโ€™ll then be redirected back to Afternic, where the Self-Brokerage platform will now be accessible

Begin receiving leads
  1. Go to Account Settings, and toggle โ€œMake Offerโ€ leads from our brokerage team, to yourself.
  2. Use Custom Lander, with โ€œMake Offerโ€: Switch your domainโ€™s landers to our popular Custom Lander and ensure that your domains have Make Offer set to display.

Head to our blog to learn more about Self-Brokerage, connecting your account, and more.

You can also check out our FAQs for more information.

Oh man...this is a big deal...thanks. Wonder how a domain takes a path to SB or Brokered?

Now I see the instructions above.

So you can only use "make offer" custom lander and not "Buy Now, LTO and make offer" custom lander for self brokering? Thanks

Now I see it. Made the change...Hallelujah

Can you get us an introductory offer - 50% off on DDC for a couple of days, so people like me can get the DDC membership?

Thanks, Garet. This moves Custom Lander "make offer" leads over to you. For newly added domains, you can go one step further and head to: https://www.afternic.com/account/lander

From there, select "Custom Lander" as your default lander, and select any combination with "Make Offer"

This is obviously brand new but based on a quick test using one of my own names it seems functional and fast. I have made an offer, communicated, and declined it. So far so good.

Looks like you have to pay and join a club to self broker your domains. No thanks.

@GoDaddy

Why do we need to pay for Discount Domain Club to negotiate our own leads? Will this feature be available to everyone without DDC in the future?

If you have any decent amount of domains it's worth it. Get discount on renewals and their domain value tools really help buying and selling domains. Unless already a pro, every domainer needs to take their courses.

So I need to pay to broker my leads huh!?
And iโ€™m guessing the commission on selfbrokered leads remains the same right ?

I have 4000+ domains, but I don't use DDC. I have less then 100 domains in Godaddy. Despite DDC, other registrars are cheaper in terms of Registration/Renewals & Transfers.

DDC is suitable if you buy from GD auctions or closeouts, as there's no way to avoid Godaddy there.

I know and I just got the Tomato Surprise a few minutes ago.

I saw the note, was very pleased, and then BAM, GD hit direct in the face with a ripe tomato. >:(>:(>:(

If GoDaddy was going to pull this and use the Self Brokerage System to make even more money off Afternic users, then someone should have communicated this beforehand.

But no, they want to bring in the room with a smile on your face and then punch you in the stomach.

Hi @Smooth,
You mentioned you have less than 100 names at GoDaddy. We'll DM you to talk more about the potential savings within that portfolio.

This is obviously brand new but based on a quick test using one of my own names it seems functional and fast. I have made an offer, communicated, and declined it. So far so good.
Thanks, Garet! That's great to hear. There's plenty more to come from Self-Brokerage. This is just the beginning.

It's a great question, @Janoss. We have a huge amount of new Afternic sellers join us every day, and negotiating for yourself as a new investor can lead to a significantly reduced STR without guidance and guardrails. Teaming Discount Domain Club with Self-Brokerage brings Domain Academy access to new customers, while experienced hands may already be among the approximately 100,000 members who can access Self-Brokerage through Discount Domain Club already.

Sure, it'll be available for everyone, when everyone ponies up the $$$$ for the top-tier of the Discount Domain Club.

This move is sooooooo GoDaddy.

That doesn't sound like a good reason to paywall this feature. Why do new investors need to be guarded from negotiating leads on their own domains? What about all the experienced investors who aren't signed up to the Discount Domain Club, will they get access to this feature?

Let's be real, this is just a cashgrab to get more signups to GoDaddy's Discount Domain Club.

Nope. I have enough expenses and Godaddy makes enough money. I don't keep my domains at Godaddy anyway.
