Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Yes that's true. For me it was how to use the direct link, when we bring the buyer, 5% commissions.
Also hearing them trying to explain how their brokers work and best way to contact if we have a problem...live chat.
Care to share how to use the direct link with 5% commission?

Trying to explain how their brokers work? Tell us more por favor.

I’d have to go back and look. Don’t want to mislead. Hope I can do it when needed.

No but I appreciate your time! Tx

I’m looking for the direct link if you sell it yourself…. And you only get charged 5% commission.

It would be very helpful. And save me & many others $$$$.

I’m hoping @End Game can remember it . Especially since it was his big take away from the DNA Academy workshop. 🤪👌😆

That is it. I think it's only valid for 7 days and you have to refresh a new link

I just don't understand why Godaddy is dragging their feet on Self Brokering.

  • Self Brokering creates more deals for Godaddy, Sellers and Buyers
  • Godaddy can reduce their staff of brokers which helps their bottom line.
  • Sellers close deals way faster and more often with Self Brokering.
  • Godaddy and Sellers would all make a lot more money.
  • Self Brokering is a WIN Win for everyone.

What's the hold up?
Think about the number of glitches and issues they have - all for standard things that worked perfectly on Dan. Then think about the fact that they have to build self-brokerage from the ground up since they threw Dan out. I was wondering if they even have the technical know-how to do it. That's probably unkind to their devs - I'm sure they do (??), so I'm not sure what the problem is. All I know is that almost everything GD releases has problems (even when they say it's ready for prime-time), so I won't be using self-brokerage when it first arrives as I don't want to do their testing for them. Maybe give it a year and it'll be properly functional.

He showed the self checkout link in his post. That’s where you start the process. Where it shows pricing and the checkout link to the right. If I remember right, you just past & copy that link on the domain you want to sell, to the potential buyer. The link gives the potential buyer the link to buy and we pay 5% commission.

Tx. Hopefully I will check it out! By checking out a domain soon.

Much appreciated. Good luck!!

Am trying to list Ethereum247.com but it says Not Approved due to Trade Mark issues ?

There are Dozens of "ETHEREUM" domains listed on Afternic ?

When is this annoying issue going to be sorted ??

GoDaddy is really going hard on TMs (it probably makes money selling corporate packages) but it's only for newly listed domains. All the rest are grandfathered in or listed by big wheels whose portfolios don't need to be checked.

Hi @411domains,
Yes, and our previous response referenced the "verified" workflow that domain investors experience when buying and relisting domains.

That said, the Afternic team is now working on plans to eliminate or further reduce the hold cycle.

Thanks for your input!

@GoDaddy - There shouldn't be a hold in the first place!!!

Anyone who says otherwise is part of the much bigger problem that plagues the platform.

While there does appear to have been some progress, we're still unable to list them.

We go through the motions only to find the listings have either not been added or they're in a shady hidden status on the back end.

It's just absurd.

In the end, they neither appear in our accounts nor do not appear to be listed at Afternic.

Fix it.

In the meantime, they'll be listed and parked on a sales platform that doesn't have all these issues.

Oh hey @Afternic how are we supposed to quickly update the BIN prices? Oh, you know... like the super easy fast we used to be able to to it via the DAN interface? Click on a field update price and bam. Done. Now if you want to update BIN price a pop-up with multiple fields happens. Yeah, it works, but it's tedious and time consuming. You have an export feature. Why not an import feature? An import feature where we can have CSV file with desired values for BIN, Floor, etc, etc and can just import to easily bulk update? I only have 100 domains, I can't imagine the headache for some owners with 1000's of names. Any thoughts?
Hi @Maxxo,
Afternic does offer an import feature that allows you to upload your export CSV file. We've recently updated the process, and you can find a quick recap on our blog: https://blog.afternic.com/bulk-upload-walkthrough/

I attended the 4 hour Master Class from Domain Academy yesterday. It was worth it, for some of the information discussed. They have another one coming this week. I asked Joe about when Self brokering was coming. Still didn’t give a time line, but said it’s coming.

They are trying to improve, but self brokering is the key. That and their high commissions are letting others take share. 25-30% is just crazy, if you don’t use their DNS. I did learn how to use their direct link on sales we find on our own.
Great to hear that you found it valuable, @End Game! For those who missed it, @Domain Academy is hosting another masterclass on Friday Wednesday, February 26.

If you're a Discount Domain Club member, you can register for the class by signing in at DomainAcademy.com. You'll find the event registration area on your homepage.

The direct link you mentioned is Custom Checkout Link! You can find instructions on how to create one here: https://blog.afternic.com/custom-checkout-link-update/

Hi @lennco,
Self-brokerage is definitely a highly anticipated feature, and that's why we're working diligently to test and refine it. We'll share more details as we get closer to launching. Additionally, we're working on another big update that we'll be announcing in the coming weeks.

When is this annoying issue going to be sorted ??
Hi @asxforum,
You're referring to a domain that's been held for compliance. To address this, you'll need to speak directly with Afternic's support team via afternic.com/contact. Using the live chat option will give you the fastest response time.

Tried few times, double checked I followed the upload instructions using csv file. The names of the domains got updated, but the BIN price, floor price, min offer price, lease y/n, lease length and the rest did not update. Is there something causing an issue. Is there a troubleshooting knowledgebase or video that points out any common mistakes people make that cause not all of the columns to be updated?

LOL, good luck with that.

Those are all canned responses from a drop-down selection pool and all you can really do is wait for the eventual "Stalled" or "Confused" drop-down pick to be made. Which one will it be?
