Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Anyone else notice that early in January, there seemed to be some "weekend brokers" doing actual work, and sometimes my Dashboard would actually move or I would receive new offers.

That seems to have been a temporary measure, as now the weekends are totally dead and it's back to 9-5, Mon-Fri.

It won’t be long now…

@PaulENicks
confirm that a self-brokerage is in dark launch at
@GoDaddy
with public beta coming soon, which will be a welcome option. Also discussed increased demand generation activities via public marketing in Q1 that should have a residual impact on aftermarket sales.

If you upload a CSV and the domain was not added because it's still in the previous owner's afternic account, the results will say "ADD_PROCESSED" but the domain was not uploaded, and it will have to be manually added. The results should be accurate, even something along the line of "NOT_PROCESSED" would suffice.

Hi @GoDaddy ,

Like some other marketplaces, Dan.com featured an integration with Google Analytics. Afternic would not need to provide the detailed specifics, just allow the GA-4 integration. It would be greatly appreciated!
Hi @E. Silvera,
While GA-4 isn't something we can offer, we do provide on-site visitor stats to give you helpful insights into traffic heading to your landers. What would you like to see added to our on-site visitor stats features?

Hi,

Had 2 domains sold a week or so ago, immediately provided auth. codes and they have been stuck in the process. Usually, based on my experience with Afternic, the moment you provide the code domains get transferred in next 24 hours but it's been a week. At the stage of the process, once domain is sold and AN asks for the code - did the buyer already transfer money? My fear is that they are issues with the money transfer and I am scared of the sale getting canceled. Any experiences?
Hi @Sandro.Agency,
Could you DM us with the domains in question? It seems you might have posted them in a subsequent message on the forum, but it would be great if you could confirm.

As there are no entries for "Unlist" or "Unlisting" in the Afternic knowledge/help files...

What exactly does the "Unlist" function do, what status is your domain, and can you easily "Relist" these from the Afternic dashboard?

I'm kinda looking to take a break and I'm hoping this just puts the domains in temporary limbo, while still keeping others from fraudulently listings your domains, but allowing these domains to easily be 'relisted' when you want.

I also found some snippets here are NP that suggest "unlisting" a domain at Afternic only limits it from being shown on MLS networks and has no effect on whether it's displayed at Afternic.

@GoDaddy
Hi @DomainRecap,
Unlisting and hiding both mean taking your domain name off the active "for sale" status, which removes its distribution and lander usage. We'll consult with the team to align the action under one term. But for now:
  • Unlisting: This is a bulk action. You can select one or more domains from your Portfolio page and click "Unlist" in the footer menu.
  • Hidden: This option is available on the domain details page or by editing any of your domains individually.
When a listing is removed from circulation, you can find it here: https://www.afternic.com/domains?filter=notListed. Relisting from this page is straightforward.

Thanks for highlighting these @BritFlippa. There's plenty more to come from Afternic in 2025!

@Future Sensors

Isn't that basically the same as "direct sales"?
I think it means that you're able to have some restricted and monitored chat with Buyer, and that you're not able to have your domain pushed at another registrar, like we all loved at DAN.COM.

What would you like to see added to our on-site visitor stats features?

Most Recently Viewed Domains (auto-sort selection)

Like on Dan, where this auto-sort option (which lists the domains in order of the most recent visit) was one of the site's most popular features.

Unlisting and hiding both mean taking your domain name off the active "for sale" status, which removes its distribution and lander usage. We'll consult with the team to align the action under one term.

Thank you for the explanation, and personally I like the term HIDDEN better because it more clearly describes the process. You are "hiding" the domain(s) from buyers and MLS, not unlisting them from Afternic.

More like "Direct Control".

The ability to respond quickly and decisively to buyer offers is a tenet of end user sales. Waiting for overworked brokers to get around to responding in 2-4 days just doesn't work and sellers need the option to a) take control of their sales or b) send them to brokers who can now respond quicker.

Just like it was at Dan.

Dan's "Most Recently Viewed Domains" was intelligent. It wasn't simply recently viewed domains. It was domains that showed higher probability of purchase based on user behavior (perhaps repeat visit from same device etc?). Some of my high traffic domains never showed up there

I agree 100% with the Most recently viewed domains comments.

The in review problem still sucks. A slight price change prompts an in review status. Completely removing the domain from godaddy. And the landing page says "registered but may be available" and the refresh is not a fix for this. It is a fix from waiting weeks for them to be corrected. But it should not happen at all.

It is the same list of garbage everyday. At dan, it was easy, fast and pleasurable. At afternic you have the same lists of problems daily. With no end in sight. There is never a time when you relax. You always have to get something working the way it should. It is time consuming and sad.

To me unlisted and hidden have different meanings, but I am not clear if they do at Afternic.

Hidden would mean the name does not show up if someone searches for it. But the word does not imply to me that the name could not be bought, through an agent inquiry for example.

Unlisted to me implies the name is not available for sale. This would be used when you are starting a negotiation on another platform, for example, and want to prevent any possibility of the name selling both places.

To prevent confusion, I am NOT saying this is what they mean at Afternic, just commenting on what the words mean to me.

A name in review might be hidden ?, since if an agent was contacted about that specific name I assume they would follow up to see why the name was in review, and if indeed it could be sold.

Based on this, I don't think your definition of UNLISTED exists on Afternic because the domain is still in the system and able to have an offer placed on it, or purchased. Old negotiations are still active, and if you have the NS there, the domain links to a GD "might be available" broker page.

In terms of what this Afternic feature does, I prefer HIDDEN, as that's what's really going on. It won't show up in GD search or on MLS, and NS links are pushed to a broker page, but it's still there if someone phones in at Afternic, messages a broker or resumes a closed/stalled negotiation.

Basically, it eliminates 99.8% of potential buyer interactions. For 100% you'd need to delete it.

A domain I transferred 10 days ago is in review now. I changed the name servers to sedo and removed the buy it now from afternic at the time of transfer. So it is only make offer. It literally makes NO sense why this domain is in review. The other one is a .com at godaddy. The price changed from 1999 to 2500. Now it is in review. Again makes NO sense. Refresh may work. But is has been over 10 hours with a dead sales page.

Why not get rid of whatever is causing any domain to go into review. Get rid of fast transfer if that is the reason you have to chronically monitor any domain change. No one needs fast transfer. It doesn't mean fast payment as we all know.

A person can register a domain, throw a buy it now on it and it shows up at godaddy instantly. It cannot be transferred. A sale would probably not even be able to occur except for at godaddy if that is where it is registered. Because it is LOCKED. If I try to buy that domain at dynadot or somewhere...your sales is not happening . Locked....Your system is putting valid domains that can be sold into review.

Lastly use those resources to search for unregistered domains on your platform You have thousands of those. And we have to spend our time tagging and waiting just to get them removed. As mentioned many times before, sedo does this and then sends an email stating it was removed so you can double check.

Hi @E. Silvera,
While GA-4 isn't something we can offer, we do provide on-site visitor stats to give you helpful insights into traffic heading to your landers. What would you like to see added to our on-site visitor stats features?

Time on site per visitor. Location of each visitor. Pages viewed per visitor. Repeat visits. Sort names by total time on site. Sort names by recent views.

All basic things GA4 has that gives us useful data when pricing and negotiating names.

Why not get rid of whatever is causing any domain to go into review.

Most of the time a domain goes into review it's because something in the GD system flagged it as a potential TM issue or that the domain has some objectionable term within it.

Not always, but it's been the case for the vast majority of my "in review" domains - and once you make any change, the domain may have to go through the entire process again.

Man, sellers can't even negotiate a sale on Afternic yet, and you think they're going to duplicate Google Analytics?

Not these two. One with no buy it now is about math. The other a simple coin domain.

Still in review btw.
