Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Yesterday, I received an email from Afternic Transaction Assurance, stating that the Buyer decided that they would like to receive the domain via Porkbun. The new instruction was to push the domain to Afternic's Porkbun holding account. However, the Afternic Dashboard still indicates that I need to provide the AUTH code, without reflecting the updated instruction.

While I trust the legitimacy of this email, it would enhance trust and security if this updated instruction also appeared in the Afternic Dashboard.

@GoDaddy
It would be nice that in case of : Lease to Own transaction cancelled...

Do you mean before purchase or after several payments have been made?

What happens when a LTO buyer stops paying the installments before the final month,

as regards money already received and title to the name?

I had a buyer stop making payments and I kept all the money received to date, and the domain name was put back into my account at GoDaddy (it was originally at GoDaddy -- I'm not sure what happens if the domain was from a different registrar).

I would definitely wait for confirmation from the Afternic broker, as there is all kinds of funny business going around these days, and it always pays to be sure.

That's precisely why I suggested sharing this information through the Dashboard as well. It offers a much more secure and reliable method of communication.

In this case, the email header and unique Afternic transaction (email) reference (used earlier for this sale) convinced me to push the domain to their holding account.

Waiting for TA can take a very long time. You know.

Btw, they have yet to accept the push at Porkbun. It’s progressing at a rather slow pace.

Waiting for absolutely anything from Afternic can take a very long time. You know.

It's like watching the movie Awakenings in reverse.

Hello NamePros!

Two names that I added today needed verification. I used the verification NS as NS3. They seemingly added with the verification used. I can see both names in my Afternic account as "Listed," not "In Review" or "Pending Sync."

I happened to check one of the names on GoDaddy. It shows as a live premium listing but the price is from someone else. The second name that needed verification shows as unavailable. Two other names that I added today that did not need verification are also unavailable via GoDaddy search.

All four names show as available at the correct price at Dynadot. Those could be via Sedo, though, as I've listed with both Afternic and Sedo.

The names are registered at GoDaddy and were listed via Afternic.

It can take a bit for the domains to load and the landers to set properly.

Recently got hit by a 25% fee due to the fact domain expired and wasn't pointing to one of the reducend commission DNS. The domain was held at GD and was pointing to GD via ns .domainconrol . com dns though

@GoDaddy would you like to add ns . domaincontrol.com as reduced commission DNS when pointing to GD?

Why does adding a BIN send a name to review?

When I list with BIN at different marketplaces, I tend to use slightly different dollar amounts at the tail end of the price. Example: everything at Afternic ends with "99" and everything at SEDO ends with "95" - so if I see $4,999 vs $4,995 I would know where that price is coming from...

Are you ever going to make the payment settings page better? It seems nuts that we cannot delete old entries. It also seems crazy that we cannot delegate different payout methods for different sales.

The page needs fixed.

The whole site needs fixed.

I laughed out loud on that. Except it isn't funny. But it is true. Months in now and still a barely functional site.

Months in now and still a barely functional site.

Months? Afternic has been around since 1999 and GoDaddy has owned the company since 2013, and it's like time has stopped for them.

Here's a picture of their executive committee after returning from a long voyage at sea to the New World:

And here's GoDaddy buying Afternic in 2013. Not much has changed since then...

And who will ever forget the "Great Impasse" that resulted when GoDaddy took away all their quills and forced Afternic workers to use ballpoint pens. Ah, right up there with the Boston Tea Party.
