Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Clicking "Export" now generates a CSV file with data that matches the new template. You can even make changes and upload the Export file directly!
When I EXPORT, the CSV file does NOT match the BULK upload file. It has extra columns like DATE_ADDED, LISTING STATUS", and the columns don't match up as the export has BIN, MIN, FLOOR while the BULK file has BIN,FLOOR, MIN

Hi @NameGroove,
Adding .now to Afternic depends on GoDaddy adding the extension to the registrar, which will be explored.

Thanks, @Smooth!

Thanks for your feedback on a bulk delete function. Our team will take note of it for future updates.

Hi @Recons.Com
You're correct - only Afternic Boost domain names appear in suggested search results at GoDaddy.
It's been effective... Boosted domain names received 230 million impressions in suggested search results at GoDaddy in the first 50 days post launch. (Based on internal data from September 4, 2024 through October 24, 2024)

When it comes to GoDaddy search suggestions, a wide range of data influences what's displayed. The domain names you see might differ from what someone else sees, based on factors like previous searches, purchases, location, trends, and even the time of day. This data-driven approach is designed to connect buyers with the perfect domain name and offer suggestions they might not have considered, including related aftermarket and sponsored listings.

This seems like an issue that Afternic's support team can look into. Could you reach out to them via afternic.com/contact and use the live chat feature?

It seems you've already reached out to Afternic's support team regarding this, @tlpgndr. The payout was first sent a while back, so we suggest continuing to work with the support team to find out why you haven't received it yet. From your DM to us, it looks like you changed your payout settings late in the process, which could be holding things up.
Excuse me, is moon phase taken into consideration when it comes to search suggestions?

Umm, the perfect domain, so long as the seller is paying extra commission.

In my experience, the suggested options are usually awful & nonsensical. It seems like a combination of a bad algorithm and probably limited inventory to pull from.

Brad

Agree 100% , The suggested results not showing all boosted domains and it contain mix of lots of silly alternative choices .

Well I just crossed off "Check My Afternic Dashboard Several Times a Day" from my Daily To Do list, as it's totally counterproductive and a massive waste of time. It's like watching paint dry, with the obvious difference being that eventually paint does dry.

Instead, I'll be taking a much-needed break during the Christmas season and will decide what to do with my domains in 2025. I think there are a LOT of people in this same boat, and GD better get their ass going implementing the Self-Brokerage Tool, as the current Afternic system is absolutely broken and is looking increasingly like a sinking ship.

LOL, the minute I post this I get 2 new offers in the inbox. Screw you Afternic, I'm at work and maybe I'll reply within 2-3 days... Maybe. Hahahahaha

The problem occurs in a large browser window. when you make the window smaller, buttons appear. Opera and Chrome here.

I get an error message on my side. I will try again later.

Boosted domain names received 230 million impressions in suggested search results at GoDaddy in the first 50 days post launch..

If there are roughly 23 million listings on Afternic then this is an average of 0.2 impressions per day per domain. Even if we assume only 10% are in boost then thatโ€™s still just 2 views per day.

And if these impressions are counted when shown alongside ~40 other names you can discount the impact this has on any single name significantly.

Based on the search results Iโ€™m continuing to see I still canโ€™t fathom how this is worth an extra 5% commission across the board.

Moved on to greener pastures. Still will check from time to time to see the frustrating updates. @Sedo @DomainEasy @Atom
Sedo doesn't give you lead contact details no ? How about Domaineasy and Atom ? Do they have self brokerage?

I'm thinking of Efty. I think I can convert more sales from the landing page inquiries, or in worst case can at least understand why buyers are dropping off.

Still getting the error: domains couldn't be listed

I was able to add names at Afternic this morning. The new revision confused me at first. After you enter a name it gives an error message, but that is just until you insert a BIN price, when the error goes away. There is one less step in changing months for LTO, once I understand it.
Bob
This helped, thank you, Bob. The error message is confusing.

Spaceship will have this going forward

Just to clarify, Afternic brokers represent our sellers in all transactions, and Bogdan's recent sale showcases the outstanding work done by Afternic's brokerage team.

It's important to note that GoDaddy also has a separate team of brokers dedicated to representing buyers who use our Domain Broker Service. The distinction is clear - Afternic brokered leads always appear in the Lead Center, for example. But, if you're ever unsure, feel free to ask the assigned broker for clarification.
"Who does the broker represent" is a common question, because I think it is clear representing both sides would create a conflict of interest.

There is a reason in fields like real estate both sides generally have an agent or broker.

It's reasonable to assume that if the buyer is paying for the service, the broker is representing the buyer. However, that is not always made clear.

If @GoDaddy brokers are representing sellers, why do I receive the "cash offers are rare" responses?

In that situation it doesn't feel like the broker is working for me, as much as they are trying to beat down the value of my item.

Brad
I just wanted to circle back to this.

I received a contact from a @GoDaddy broker yesterday.

This was regarding a domain listed on Afternic with a "price request" lander.

This was not a buy service offer. It was subject to the standard 15% fee.

So, in this situation, who is the GoDaddy broker representing?

That aside, the negotiation did result in a $15,000 sale, so it ended pretty well for all parties.

For your convenience, in the absence of a response from GoDaddy, I've attached a Bulk Upload Sample File V3 in .csv format.

The contents of this file are as follows:
Code:
Domain,Buy Now Price,Floor Price,Min Offer,Lease to Own,Max Lease Period,Sale Lander,Show Buy Now Option,Show Lease to Own Option,Show Make Offer Option,Hidden
Example.com,5000,4500,4000,Y,5,Buy It Now,Y,Y,N,N

If someone contacts a broker about your name, can they try selling them other names not owned by you? If they can, then the broker represents GoDaddy and your name is one of the tools GoDaddy has to bring in customers. If they can sell your name great but if not the broker will try selling them something else.

In most cases it is easier to get a domain owner to go down in price significantly than it is to get a buyer to go up in their offer (unless the starting offer was the minimum 20 dollars). Brokers can see your buy now price and your floor price (if someone sets it) and usually there is a big difference there showing flexibility.

For GoDaddy the direct brokerage feature might be a major issue. If domain owners talk directly to buyers and currently brokers bring in a lot of money by selling your potential buyers something else (if that is how they work) what will happen to all those sales?

In the new Bulk Upload File V3, there are these two columns related to LTO, and they feel pretty redundant:

Lease to Own (Options: Y/N)
Show Lease to Own Option (Options: Y/N)

Why are these two LTO columns necessary? If "Lease to Own" is "Y", show it. Otherwise, hide it.

In the Bulk Upload file, there are now 3 columns related to LTO. The inclusion of 3 distinct LTO-related columns is overly complex. A single "LTO" column, specifying either the maximum LTO period, or "N" to disable LTO, would provide a more streamlined and reliable approach.
