Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Just to clarify, Afternic brokers represent our sellers in all transactions, and Bogdan's recent sale showcases the outstanding work done by Afternic's brokerage team.

It's important to note that GoDaddy also has a separate team of brokers dedicated to representing buyers who use our Domain Broker Service. The distinction is clear - Afternic brokered leads always appear in the Lead Center, for example. But, if you're ever unsure, feel free to ask the assigned broker for clarification.

"Who does the broker represent" is a common question, because I think it is clear representing both sides would create a conflict of interest.

There is a reason in fields like real estate both sides generally have an agent or broker.

It's reasonable to assume that if the buyer is paying for the service, the broker is representing the buyer. However, that is not always made clear.

If @GoDaddy brokers are representing sellers, why do I receive the "cash offers are rare" responses?

In that situation it doesn't feel like the broker is working for me, as much as they are trying to beat down the value of my item.

I frequently have to ask if the offer is via buy service or a standard offer, because it is not made clear.

I think this part should be made clear in the first email.

I can confirm this, as it's exactly what happened to me.

It's reasonable to assume that if the buyer is paying for the service, the broker is representing the buyer.

That's exactly what it is, and in the case of an Afternic-initiated sale, both sides are effectively paying the commission. With GD brokers, the buyer has paid the fee.

GoDaddy broker that's contacting you is obviously working for the buyer. But Afternic brokers work for sellers.

Hello!

You are still keeping me waiting for the sale that happened on December 6th! This is really annoying. The payment has still not been made. You are not responding at all and Afternic Chat keeps me waiting with the same answers. I have PM'd you for the details. Can we please resolve this immediately? The amount involved is over $7k and I am currently waiting for nothing. I think I regret working with you.

Here is the timeline so far -

3:40 AM EST - Created checkout link. Sent link to buyer.
3:54 AM EST - I received the "Congratulations!" email from Afternic with transfer instructions.
3:12 PM EST - The domain was moved from my account to @GoDaddy.

The process has only taken 12 hours. This process took 8 days the first time.

So far, it's a massive improvement from the first time around.

Brad
This afternoon I received the "transfer is done" email from Afternic.

I just received the "funds are on the way" email.

It has been much more pleasant this time.

I will summarize the entire transaction from start to finish when payment hits my account.

@GoDaddy

But Afternic brokers work for sellers.

I'm not sure I'd go that far, as its more of a gray area and Afternic brokers really just work to facilitate a sale, which includes both sides of the deal.

I'm pretty sure the Afternic brokers get a commission that's based on the selling price. But of course, they prefer a deal done over a missed deal, but that's why you should put a floor price.

Does anyone here know if there is a macro/formula to CamelCase a list of domains where the domain is ONEWORD not two? i.e. hotshots.com to be HotShots.com
I have a number of domains that need to be modified but cannot find a easy way to do this

After selling a domain name via Afternic 3 weeks ago and providing authorization code to Afternic for the domain name to be transferred twice, this is what Afternic sent to me

Below was a message from them about the sale on Friday. How did it go from this to the above?

It doesn't make sense to cancel a LTO sale due to the 60-day lock. Why can't GoDaddy allow the seller to push the domain to a holding account and manage it from there, similar to how other marketplaces handle such situations?
In fact, Afternic is allowed. Please do not wait and contact online customer service immediately

Afternic email says :
We've scheduled your payout of xxxx for the sale of xxx.com, and it will be sent shortly.

In afternic.com > sales > sold > it says :
Estimated Payout Date : 15th December 2024

So my question is , i get funds shortly or on 15th of December?

i got the payout today. so it is before the estimated date mentioned in dashboard. Thank you.

Hi @tlpgndr,
It seems your domain was transferred on Sunday, and our team picked up the TA case early this week. Your payment looks set to process soon. Just a quick reminder: transaction times for this type of sale can take 7-10 days to complete.

This afternoon I received the "transfer is done" email from Afternic.

I just received the "funds are on the way" email.

It has been much more pleasant this time.

I will summarize the entire transaction from start to finish when payment hits my account.

That's fantastic to hear, Brad! A smooth and speedy sale is exactly what we aim for with the Custom Checkout Link. Thanks for giving it another go!

Hi @m42hvac,
Afternic and GoDaddy don't provide formulas for CamelCasing, but we've heard that some sellers use AI to generate a CamelCase list. We always recommend manually reviewing your list after using any AI tool to ensure accuracy.

Yep, someone at Afternic HQ sure is kicking ass like a one-legged man at an ass-kicking contest.

Once you get the "released" email, and there are no potential snags with the transaction or payment, it's usually next business day.
