Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

It's probably a mix of manual/automatic. While chatting to support, I was asked to perform the authorization of pending domains once again. That function, on top of what the technician had performed manually, enabled the domains right away. The only thing missing was the landers; they had to sync, a process that can take up to 24 hours.

It's probably a mix of manual/automatic.

Of course, but it's obvious that at some point a live person (working 9 to 5) needs to click a button to push these "already authorized domains" over to live listings.

Which IMO, totally defeats the entire point of a DNS TXT code authorization system.

And none of these domains show a pending/in review/on hold on Afternic (they all show a "Listed" status) and it's only by typing in the domain that you see these domains are actually stuck in a "hidden review" status.

Perhaps Afternic doesn't want everyone to know this is going on, otherwise why not list these properly as "in review"?

I'm not saying it's one or the other but a combination of both. E.g. the automated process runs every so often. If it fails, it requires some overruning by a person (that's my guess.) In the experience I had, it seems that the technician had the ability to do checks and overrun processes, which is a positive thing in my book. In my case, that was a dozen domains. Some people might have hundreds in that ambiguous state and perhaps it's not always possible without a ticket. I'm simply reporting on my recent personal experience.

I understand and appreciate your input. I'm just a bit irritated because how are you supposed to know that you have domains in "hidden review" limbo unless manually you go through each and every domain you to test them?

EDIT: I just chatted with a care guide and these were apparently not processed correctly so he fixed/reprocessed them and now most of the domains resolve properly and the rest should when the synch is complete.

So my problem is solved, but I wonder what would happen if I never checked? How long would these remain in limbo?

Agree 100%. The interface and UX are glitchy, no doubt about that. I still see no leads until I click on the "all leads" submenu link. There are lots of ways to improve everything that lacks intuitive processes and the best part is that we, as domainers, have provided countless hours of free tech support to GoDaddy in order to fix stuff.

Is it the best part or the worst part?

Yep, the only window in the Leads section that makes any sense in the All link. I have that bookmarked so I don't have to click all over the place to get there.

I just did a spot check and found that none of the landers were resolving to the proper landing page. Why is it always something with Afternic?

Hello Afternic, Im facing problem to adding my few domains in my afternic account, when ever i try to add domains then error come and these domains can't be listed, why even these domains were listed in my afternic account but due to some reasons i removed these and try to re add after 2 days but now last from 7 days these are not listed, i have contacted support many time and they saying everytime use different browser clear cache and new incognito window etc.

But the reality is i have try to add these domains via different laptops, mobiles and even i have changed my interent provider but the same erro" These domains can't be listed" So that mean i can't add these domains in my afternic account so added these domains in my sedo account.

Support looks very uneducated everytime they told me Clear cache, new ignito window and i have told them everytime but i don't know, why they say same words again and again.

I read your thread , so i posted my problem here may be you can help me out to solve my this problem.

This boost seems to be a big lie !

At godaddy when i do ( experiment ) search for some of my domains which tagged as " verified domain + premium domain" by adding O or S at the end ( as a wrong spelling ) to see what the result, i don't see godaddy give the better right spelling (my domain) as a suggested result !! They show only domains ending with as O or S combined with suggested random word sometimes !!

When i remove last letter from my domains and i search at godaddy, again i dont see godaddy suggesting my domain as a suggested right result ( right spelling) !! They only show the exact match of the wrong spelling domain i searched and sometimes again combined with suggested random word !!!

Our domains will be shown a result only with exact match searching .

With this situation they still push to market hand registration and most of our domains seems to be hidden !!!

We don't want to be scammed with the called domain boost !!
We need explain to understand how this boost algorithm works ??

You understand completely. Boost is a sham to get an add'l 5% from sellers. Their Ai does NOT properly show similar names. Most of the results are cross promo's for hand regs. The few "boosted" names are a jumble of letters that have nothing to do with the initial search term. Worse than stealing 5% from sellers is the fact that the buyers (the bread and butter of GoDaddy) are served poor results. When a company makes decisions that are not in the best interest of its customers... it does not bode well for their future prospects.

Opt out of Boost.

Did anyone else notice that when you use the Custom Lander with just a BIN (and no Make Offer or Lease) the prompt reads as such:

Pay the full $X,000 now to make it yours!

The "full"? What other part of the BIN would they pay?

That prompt is taken from the BIN + Make Offer/Lease to Own Lander scenario, where one option is to make an offer or take a lease, and the secondary option is to pay the "Full" amount right now.

Without either of those options present, this "full" part doesn't look or sound right.

Using the same "Call to Action" of a Lease to Own listing doesn't really make sense in a pure BIN listing and although I like the design of the Custom Lander better, I'm thinking the BIN lander might be better.

Agreed. This copy should be fixed (remove "the full"). @GoDaddy

Yeah, this was already reported several times in this thread. Apparently they're not going to fix it.

Hardly a surprise.

Afternic is like a Carny Funhouse - every new door you open, a new set of freaks come running out.

I actually have no problems with the Afternic wording. Maybe not needed, but the comparison is between BIN and LTO. In one case you pay it all and are done, is what they are stressing. It is not a comparison with paying in full versus some non-discounted price higher price, in my opinion. I don't see any confusion.

When the LTO option is available, it makes sense to say 'Pay the full amount now' as the first option. However, when there's no LTO option available (and buyer isn't even aware of this) emphasizing the full amount feels excessive and unnecessary. In your face. This isn't about a decision Afternic made, but rather about Afternic not adjusting their template slightly for BIN-only scenarios.

I made a suggestion to Dan long time ago, maybe Afternic can add it, the idea is to allow us to enable LTO only, without BIN, in this way we receive smaller amounts, for more expensive domains. I mean force buyer to LTO even if it have BIN in some way.
I asked my bank, they say max you can receive as non taxed amount is 10K USD higher than that and I must prove for what I got such money, like a contract, that is why I m confused what if I sell a 5fig or higher domain? Considering that Escrow is dead for my country.
The only way is crypto, but not many support it as a payment!

Thanks. I understand better now, and agree.
I tend to have most of mine with both BIN and LTO set, so it is not an issue personally, but can see it is for the situation you describe.

I am just referring to the wording, which assumes a second or third type of payment option (as that's what it's used for in Lease or Offer Landers with BIN), when there isn't one. There is just one price and there is no need to slap on extra words like FULL or TOTAL or ENTIRE or COMPLETE...

The world "full" is totally unneeded on a BIN lander and is potentially confusing to customers.

I don't usually disagree with you Bob, but I do here.
