Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I just wanted to add my voice to how irritating, and useless, this is.

For example, every time you delete a domain name, you get a popup that says:

Success
1 domain successfully deleted. Your changes may take a moment to reflect.

And that message obscures the box to enter another name to search. So time after time you have to close the box. Could you not at least show it only once in a session, or maybe not at all if the person has >x domains or >1 year on Afternic, as odds are they know that already?

There are numerous other messages that pop up, particularly making it challenging if trying to operate from a tablet.

Thank you,

Bob
Agreed, and while this might be important for info expired domains, almost no one is going to be paying retail aftermarket prices just for traffic/SEO domains, as the value is not there.

It's truly bizarre to see Afternic adding stupid (and dangerous/ill-fitting) things like this while constantly delaying the implementation of important features like self-brokerage, domain descriptions and additional landers, as well as fixing existing landers.
Agreed. They add things we don't want or need.

I think this is a known problem by Afternic, here is a response from the broker, I asked them to call due to the spam issue. They mentioned they send emails also from their GoDaddy address which generally would not go into spam. I believe they should definitely use email trackers to make sure buyers are opening their emails and follow up accordingly.

Okay this explains why they're sending emails to sellers from their godaddy.com addresses, too.

Afternic has switched to "pipes" that are even more clogged than before. Iโ€™m trying to change my domainsโ€™ status from pending review to unlisted. Two Nine hours later and those changes havenโ€™t taken place.

"may take a moment" indeed

Already reported this issue to GoDaddy.

Posting here to see if you're seeing similar errors when testing:

Tested my names that are using custom lander: After I clicked on BIN button:

Firefox: Redirected to "403 forbidden" error page
Error came only once

2. Opera browser: Redirected to "Error occurred processing link" error page. Error kept reoccurring on different domains.

The gap between GoDaddy's feature announcements and the reality of the dysfunctional platform is increasing frustration within the community every day.

Question: We all knew Dan would eventually be killed off, but why did GoDaddy not wait until Afternic added the requisite features (self-brokerage, working landers, domain descriptions, etc.) to support the migration?

Answer: Because then Dan would never be shut down.

Today Afternic does not bring clean results in the portfolio search. A new experience for me.
I want to delete 13 names - expiring and sold - from my AN portfolio. I enter them in the search box and get them displayed with three other names that are not the subject of the search. The three bonus results are โ€œnot listedโ€ domains. They have not been subject to searches or changes in the recent past.
I have repeated the process several times and get the same result. At least that.

My real-world experience with Afternic:

A lead was initiated on September 11 and the potential buyer was contacted on September 12. There were steady "contacted buyer" updates, then nothing, then more "buyer contacted" updates, and finally today (October 7) I was sent the standard "Buyer indicated the domain was priced outside of what they wanted to spend" update.

So it now takes almost a month for Afternic to get back to you that the buyer doesn't want to spend a penny over their initial min-bid offer? Wow!

It would take me a few minutes to determine this on Dan, and I literally cannot believe how insanely slooooow Afternic is right now, especially that they're migrating Dan domains at least 3 months (at the earliest) before they'll have a self-brokerage option, and it'll probably be a lot longer than that.

Afternic is unusable for me in its current state and I have no idea what I'll do come Oct 16. I'll probably just ignore any future Afternic offers (rather than waiting a month for an update) and keep working on my own solution.

@Name2go I had a similar thing happen. I searched a group of names and one name completely unrelated showed up in the search. I reported it to my rep on 09.15. I just tried the same search and the same unrelated domain shows up.

You cannot trust the bulk search. I mentioned before it also includes other domains that have the same terms in them.

If you are going to do a bulk edit or delete you have to really look at the names they bring up.

There's still time Afternic. You can call this off. Keep Dan alive and take several years to fix afternic.

Indeed, one search term was an LL domain. The three additional results were domains from the same TLD ending with the two letters.
I performed the same bulk search / bulk delete on Sedo and Atom and there was no such issue.

I have transfer the 2nd domain, waiting for payment, the support is very slow, had to chat with them to give a push.
But this is understandable, the GD/AN userbase is very big, imagine how many emails, phone calls and chat support requests they get there.

I am sure with the recent dissatisfaction regarding Afternic & Dan changes, issues, glitches, etc. running the @GoDaddy account can feel like a thankless job.

I want to say thanks for responding to many of the comments.

I just want a better Afternic. If Dan.com shutting down leads to that then fine.
If it just leads to the same old Afternic, that is not good.

Brad
Thanks, Brad! We're working hard to bring the best of GoDaddy/Afternic, Dan, and Uniregistry into a single selling platform. Over the past two years, we've launched some of the most impactful features around, and there's more to come! Live chat and automated invoicing are the latest additions, with self brokerage in the works.

As always, community feedback is incredibly valuable for shaping the features we develop in the long run.

Is this insight panel a new feature? Why is it only showing on some names? I have a lot of names that are a lot higher than this and it doesn't show for them.

Hi @King, I don't have insights on that just yet. Feel free to DM the domain you searched for.

Have others from Canada encountered that when you try to use the Afternic Chat (a feature I appreciate them adding), which requires you to enter your account and email, that it says that email accounts ending in .ca are invalid? At least that is what it is showing for me today.

Hi @Name2go, could you DM us your Afternic user ID and an example of the domains you were searching for?

We're excited to launch automated invoicing at Afternic for domain sales and Lease to Own transactions! These invoices and payout transmittals will be available through the sales area of your dashboard.

Automated invoicing will speed up your sales admin, replacing the previous support-led invoice request model.

Thanks to @Embrand, @justlife, @Future Sensors and more for requesting invoicing in this thread.

Hi @GoDaddy thank you for responding.
Regarding another userโ€˜s reaction to my post this issue is not new and should be well-known at Afternic. Whatever, you cannot replicate my search because I deleted the names including the short one which caused the problem.

Thanks so much for looking into this. The problem is gone when I checked this morning, so all is good. I updated my previous post.

Can we get an ETA on self-brokerage?

Here's the thing. I have been using Dan.com for a few years. I used Voodoo.com for a decade before that.

If your landers get traffic and inquiries, the lander itself doesn't matter that much.

The core feature is the system in place to negotiate with buyers.

If this is going to take months, or longer, I am going to start looking at other lander options. I am sure others will as well.

It seems very shortsighted to shut down Dan.com if self-brokerage is not ready to go basically immediately.

It does no good for me to have several interactions with brokers daily asking me how much, then getting some stupid response about how "cash offers for domains are rare".

Brad
