Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

You are supposed to change your strategy and put up a BIN price.

Yeah I know, but I refuse to slap BINs on all my domains, as that defeats the entire purpose of paying a commission to "negotiate and sell" your domains. BINs are easy and you could put up free landers with the same BIN price and pay 5% commission or less. Often it's 0% with smaller transactions as you can do bank transfers.

If Afternic only works if you list every domain with a BIN, then it doesn't work.

Yeah, this is a big deal.

This just reinforces how much of a problem the slow @GoDaddy cart issues actually are.

So many people have been reporting long times or errors when adding domains to their cart.

That is obviously going to negatively impact the conversion rate.

Brad
This is also not like buying something from Amazon, Walmart, etc.

For many people this will be their first experience trying to buy a domain. If it's a hassle, they would be more likely to abandon the purchase completely.

It really shows how GoDaddy's marketing department is completely unaware that this is a major problem on their own website right now. To be honest, it's quite embarrassing that they're now releasing it this way.

Now they just need to hire someone for us to chat with.
They need to hire someone knowledgeable. It can't be like GoDaddy chat support – polite and clueless.

When the Big Boys give the project team a hardline release date, you can bet it'll be released on that date or heads will roll.

October 16 is going to be a huge wakeup call for Dan migrators and I expect a lot of PR fallout from this decision to close Dan while Afternic is not only unfinished, but currently in chaos. Just look at the promised self-brokerage feature - it was slated to be released "by the end of the year" and that's quickly changed to "Q1 2025'.. at least until they delay it again.

I can't even imagine longtime Dan sellers, who have no experience with Afternic, watching their Dashboards do absolutely nothing for days (or weeks) at a time. Irate support calls are incoming!

I just chat with someone right now at TA. Connection was quick.

They give you option to select the department.

They also give you option to download the transcript.

Well, there are soon going to be some former Dan.com agents with nothing else to do...

You do realize how much that would cut into SlowDaddy's bottom line, right? After all, they closed Dan to save costs.

This is similar to Canada's immigration policy - twice as many people with no further investment to infrastructure. It's magic!

Well, I can think of a Dan employee that came from Escrow.com and is one of the best customer service people I have ever dealt with for almost a decade between both companies.

Hopefully they are retained.

Hi @lennco
If you're looking to opt names out of Fast Transfer, we recommend reaching out to Afternic's support team through afternic.com/contact.
@GoDaddy
I have spoke to support 2 times and they did confirm the Fast Transfer has been tuned off but It still shows Active in my Afternic account.
Can you please look into this and see if you can change the status in my account?
Thanks

I tried Afternic chat support. I put in my name and information about the issue then waited a few minutes for a representative to join.

The representative first asked for my name. I'd already entered that but I provided it. Then the person asked how she could help. Again, this was information that I'd already provided in the form but I don't think it passed through to the support person.

I explained that I sold a name last month. The name had transferred and, in fact, the buyer is actively using the name. Afternic, though, has not yet marked the transfer as complete. From my perspective, there is very little question that the transaction is complete if I no longer have the name and the buyer is using the name. I'd provided Afternic with an auth code for the transfer. It completed quickly. The name was registered at GoDaddy and still is.

The representative was polite but explained that there was nothing for me to do other than wait for additional steps from Afternic TA. There was nothing she could do either. Support chat did not move anything forward but the person was friendly and operating under GoDaddy's methodology and rules.

That's why they always say that they're happy to help you, not that they're able.
