Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

How else should they split out the domain and reg fee info?

All of that makes sense. It's the "1month" that creates confusion.

Good catch. I'm seeing the same in my cart, for another domain.

I very much agree with you. Mentioning "1 Month" and "One Time Fee" together is very confusing.

I'm assuming this is somehow related to the recent implementation of LTO in the GoDaddy registration path, and simply assuming that "no LTO" equals "1 month".

Solution: Don't mention "1 Month" anymore.

@GoDaddy, can you please take note of this?

Hi @GoDaddy

Afternic Fast Transfer column is now suddenly showing warnings with "Registrar Not Eligible", but those warnings are incorrect. For example, they show with .com domains that are registered via Porkbun.

Please investigate, thanks.

@GoDaddy Facing this exact same issue for over 2 weeks now. Have sent a DM. Thanks!

If GD needs to put something in this field to satisfy their system requirements (a very real possibility), I would recommend something like "Full" or "Total" as in this payment is not an LTO and is a full and total payment of all fees owing.

@GoDaddy - The "1 month" confusion has been removed.

@GoDaddy - This is still an issue. (Especially with domains that come out of review.)

Thanks for letting us know - we spotted this and quickly rectified it! It unintentionally occurred due to a backend adjustment in GoDaddy's system.
Hi @GoDaddy

Thanks for the quick fix, appreciate it.

@GoDaddy Do you have any new insight to share about how many sales come from your landers vs. searching at GoDaddy and partner registrars?

@GoDaddy - When domains are sold via the Afternic network, why aren't they removed from the sellers' accounts?

After all the chatter about errant listings, blaming sellers for not keeping their portfolios current and the manpower involved in finding solutions to this issue, imagine my surprise to find out that Afternic might be responsible for a large number of them.

I noticed this while reacquiring and re-listing names I had previously sold to end users.

I found it odd that each one required verification.

Naturally, in order to confirm my suspicions, I attempted to list my sold names dating back nearly 2 years and the results for each were either "Verification Needed" for those I sold through another Afternic account or "This domain already exists in your account."

Note:
Yesterday I purchased a name via the Fast Transfer network as well and after over a dozen confirmed NS verifications, it remains listed in the previous seller's account.

Based on what I've seen thus far, it looks like they linger for 2 years.

In Afternic's effort to improve the platform, wouldn't it make sense to clear them out a bit quicker or am I missing something?

@GoDaddy Can you please tell us what is being done right now to make managing domains easier. Because we have all mentioned several problems and so far nothing really has changed. Every action at afternic gets in the way of another action further slowing down what you are trying to do. Managing names is nearly impossible and certainly takes at least 25 times longer than it does anywhere else. And that is not an exaggeration. How about making a fake account and trying to do basic things like we have mentioned. See how long it takes you to delete 100 names. Or see how long it takes to change the price for 100 names. At dan and sedo, I can do these things in seconds...

More importantly @Bearded Goat why are you still with GoDaddy? Their renewal prices are 2x everyone else and as you mentioned, their tech doesn't work properly. Why spend your effort trying to make them better - when you can just transfer to a different Registrar and save money while you're at it?

Hi @Embrand
This is something we can ask the team to look into sharing in the future. Lander selection should be considered an important part of fully optimizing your sales listings to increase your chances of a sale, though - regardless of which lander you ultimately choose to use for your portfolio.

Hi @411domains
Yes - if a domain name sells via the Afternic network, it's removed from that seller's Afternic portfolio.

Hi @Bearded Goat
One of the most requested items is for improved bulk management of domain names, and Afternic's team is working hard to implement tools to help with that. Soon, the first of those bulk tools will be released. Feedback from the community has been instrumental in launching features including Ownership Verification, Lead Center, Visitor Stats, expedited payouts, SSL on landers, UI adjustments, and more.

We appreciate the whole domain investment community 💚

Good to hear you appreciate us. In that case, we would strongly like to suggest not getting rid of DANs UI and Landers when GoDaddy merges DAN and Afternic. DAN has many features which are better for the domaining community and should outlive their brand.

@Bob Hawkes mentions some of these benefits here:

And I'll add the ability to customize a DAN lander for brandable marketing to his list. A loss of all these features will be a great loss to the community. Please tell Paul Nicks many of us prefer DANs UI and Landers to those of GoDaddy's. We hope he doesn't just take the LTO tech and trash the rest.

Hi @411domains
Yes - if a domain name sells via the Afternic network, it's removed from that seller's Afternic portfolio.

@GoDaddy - That's how it's supposed to be and I'm sure that's how everyone thinks it is.

Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case.

As previously mentioned, I tested my sold names dating back 2 years and with the exception of the sold list, they do not actually appear anywhere in my account, but they're still linked on the back-end. Hence the "This domain already exists in your account" message received when I attempt to add them and if I visit the internal Afternic sales page, it shows this:

When it should be showing this:

You might want to have someone look into it.

@GoDaddy I've sold a domain via afternic more than 10 days ago, I've immediately sumbitted the authcode but the transfer process hasn't started yet (on your side). I've contacted Afternic transaction assurance and haven't received any reply after more than a week. Can you kindly look into it?

@GoDaddy, Do you know why prices are not shown on Buy-now domains? I have the correct 'sale Lander' setting set to show the price, yet the lander is an inquiry form with a phone number to get a price.
