Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

GoDaddy's search and auctions site were showing the minimum offer prices of (some of) my unlisted names. Their unlisted (โ‰ˆnot for sale) status propagated correctly only after I made changes to their minimum offers.

Why are the unlisted names showing up at all?

For the auction site especially, shouldn't there be zero result? Or a statement simply "not for sale," if that is what the Afternic designation indicates. It's puzzling that the database provides a "minimum offer" field for domains clearly designated "not for sale."

yes, search results when there's not a glitch somewhere:

godaddy.com: "domain taken" (but a domain broker might be able to help you get it blah blah blah)
auctions.godaddy.com: no result

(^^ it was a bug report, not a complaint about the system per se)

Good to see that you are keeping them on their toes!

Hi @GoDaddy

could you please clarify what happens when a buyer fails to accept a domain he bought and paid for via non-fast-transfer? There seems to be two different procedures currently floating around:

1.
"As a worst case scenario, if the buyer does not take ownership of the domain within 10 business days (two weeks), the transaction will get escalated and we will create an account at the registrar to move the domain to. We then release the funds to the seller."

2.
"But i contacted after support via call and he told me if buyer not responsive with 14 days then we will cancel the transaction and will return domain to you."

Thanks!

@GoDaddy

FYI, this is how all Fast Transfer eligible domains look and stay when they come out of review.

While inactive does not mean they are NFS, it does, however, prevent them from becoming FTA.

This is unacceptable.

Thank you @GoDaddy for your DM. The quotes were from different threads on Namepros, quoting or paraphrasing Afternic support staff. I would like to know the general procedure / afternic terms. The question is about .com domains, if you have specific terms for different TLDs. Thank you!

Simple question for @GoDaddy

Why are we able to sort these columns:

But not these?

Thanks for sharing your experience, @411domains. We've DM'd you for more information.

@GoDaddy - I was able to resolve the issue. However, the team does need to be made aware of it in order to ensure domains aren't being released from review with an inactive status.

Hi @411domains
The simple answer is that there is additional work required to get these columns to sort. Various data sources need to interact correctly, which requires some sizable behind the scenes work. Sorting by views is an important factor for the utility of this data by sellers - we're aware of that, and we are working to roll out the sorting capabilities for these columns.

@GoDaddy - It really isn't that complicated.

By "Various data sources," I'm guessing you're referring to BIN landers, Request Price landers Godaddy/Afternic DAN landers as well as DAN's own independently operated landers.

The solution is simple. Keep sources in house. Exclude DAN.com platform stats. Problem solved.

Afternic has no business showing DAN's traffic stats anyway, but it does. (Exact match stats to be precise.)

This is a gross misrepresentation of data.

K.I.S.S. and you'll have fewer issues moving forward. I promise.

Hi @411domains,
We want to clarify that "various data sources" refers to data from other columns on the Afternic portfolio page. Afternic's "Views" column only displays visitor statistics for traffic to the three Afternic landing pages, all of which are listed here: https://www.afternic.com/sales-landers (excluding CashParking).

Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback.

@GoDaddy - That sounds great and all, but I'm afraid you may want to doublecheck that with the team to be absolute certain.

If Afternic's "views" column only displays visitor statistics for the three Afternic landing pages, then I should be seeing all zeros in my Afternic "views" column.

I use only DAN landers. Therefore, comparing the data is easy.

Question:

If I use only DAN landers and the Afternic "views" column only displays stats from Afternic landers, how is it possible for the data to match?

It looks to me like Afternic is harvesting DAN's traffic stats and are reporting them as their own.

Note: Edited to correct spelling errors.

regarding the ability to sort on the columns Views / Offers / Leads -- can you at a minimum add those columns to the portfolio download? I can then sort them in a spreadsheet...

Now that you're on the subject:

Is a distinction made between the many crawlers and humans?

How are repeat visits and reloads counted?

Without knowing this, we cannot give it the proper value it may deserve.

No matter how hard I try...no matter how many different ways (one message at a time or in bulk) the messages remain.

I have the same issue. It's a bug. Only 'delete all' is working for me. I've given up reporting these things... Good to see your reporting this.

Thanks for letting me know what worked for you...that is the only thing I did not try as there are a few pages of notices. Guess I have to review them all before attempting 'delete all'.

I just don't understand the number of bugs, both big and small, that never get corrected. The pockets are certainly deep enough to fix these things.

ADD: The 'delete all' was effective.
