Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Thanks everyone for the conversation on this topic. For @ReallyBigIdea.com, the easiest way to bring a domain name into your Afternic account is to use the ownership verification system. If you haven't used this system before, there is a walkthrough here: https://www.godaddy.com/resources/news/afternic-landing-page-selection-ownership-verification

Usually, this process takes just a minute or so as long as you have added the TXT or NS3 verification before you begin the ownership verification process.

I am selling this domain on another platform. Impossible add your ns or txt for verification because the domain is pointed to SH.

What's the problem just delete unauthorized listing from afternic? It makes me think that godaddy untrusted platform because million listings are outdated or fake or unauthorized.

I was also facing this issue. What i did is, i added their verification as ns3 on my registrars and listed it then repriced or removed from the account. Now its resolved.

Impossible to download and upload large portfolio, it seems nobody is testing anything...

Adding new domains using a spreadsheet has become a very tedious task as I have to re-upload the spreadsheet several times because after I upload the spreadsheet the system thinks all new domains are added to another seller's account, so I have to re-verify the new domains and re-upload the spreadsheet again for several times until the loop is broken and finally the new domains are added to my portfolio!

This frustrating issue has been occurring for more than a week now. Please fix it ASAP.

Thanks in advance!

This happens when you have separate accounts at DAN and Afternic, and are uploading your names to DAN first. DAN will then immediately try to synchronize your domains with Afternic, under another account. Is this what you are doing, indeed?

And yes, this is extremely annoying. There should be an option to turn synchronization off for clients with separate accounts.

I'm now uploading to Afternic first, then DAN, as a workaround.

Yes, I have separate accounts at Afternic and DAN and I usually upload my domains on Afternic first. I also remember that I disabled the Afternic Network Distribution option on my DAN account when it was initially introduced and I can't find this option now.

Next time I'll try to wait until the spreadsheet is fully uploaded on Afternic then I'll upload DAN's spreadsheet and hopefully, I won't go through this again.

Thanks for the heads up!

Hi @Maged Khatab and @Future Sensors,
Thanks for your reports. The Afternic Distribution Network integration at Dan provides domain names with Buy Now prices with wider exposure, improving the chances of a sale. For customers that use Afternic and Dan, we'd recommend adding domain names to Afternic first.

@GoDaddy The domain 11Legs.com is still showing on godaddy marketplace how do you sell the domain if you don't own it? Your price is $5500 but my is $11000. Please stop confusing buyers. I am not interested to sell it through Afternic. Delete the domain ASAP.

Hi @ReallyBigIdea.com,
As we mentioned before, the easiest way to bring a domain under your possession is to use the ownership verification system at Afternic. From there, you can mark it as unlisted if you do not want this to show up on the Afternic network.

For further questions, we'd recommend reaching out to Afternic's customer service team: https://www.afternic.com/contact-afternic

Is it not possible to use the ownership verification when you add names by uploading a file? I uploaded my file after adding the ownership verification nameserver to the domains, but only a fraction of them have been added to my Afternic account.

I would like to hear from Afternic or fellow domainers about Afternic's email tactics. A lead is created for a domain, then emails are sent to the buyer (inquiry) daily as a follow-up for 3 or 4 consecutive days and finally after a week, the lead is closed. I wonder if this approach is effective. Wouldn't it be fair to allow the buyer a few business days to think and respond? Don't you think these non-stop daily emails to the buyer appear desperate/ annoying?

Hi @Embrand,
Ownership verification must be completed through the Add Domains flow (https://www.afternic.com/domains/add), currently supporting up to 50 domains at a time. However, this is helpful feedback for us as we look at bulk tools at Afternic - we appreciate you sharing your experience.

Hi @DigitalAsset,
You pose a good question! Our sales process has been developed and refined over a number of years using data points across thousands of successful deals. We've also been inspired by Uniregistry's approach, and we've implemented a lot of their best practices.

We want to interact with potential buyers as quickly as possible - our data shows a correlation between faster engagement and a higher close rate, and regular engagement attempts are part of a strategy that our brokers can use. Of course, we'll continue to develop and refine the strategies involved with the clear goal of closing more deals for Afternic's sellers.

Afternic's email tactics
Just this year I started using Afternic for listing a portion (750+) of my names...so far, so good. I like the intense emailing as it will make a lead 'pee or get off the pot'.

The part of the process that I would like to know more about is how the leads are assigned. It seems I've worked with some of the best brokers and I've worked with one in particular that did not seem to have basic understanding of how domains are priced.

It would benefit us all (Godaddy/Afternic/Domainer) if we could leave feedback after a sale is completed or closed. I'm hoping there is a structure in place where a superior/experienced broker looks at a sale that does not occur and determines the cause(s).

It would be good if you could filter your domains according to which ones have and don't have lease to own enabled. Also, I would like to set a default lease to own period of 12 months. Right now, it seems I have to adjust the number of months individually.

Thanks for your feedback, @Embrand. By selecting multiple domains and using the footer Pricing option, you can set a maximum lease period. We'll also share your feedback about a default term length with the team.
