Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I get them very fast lately. 1-2 days after transfer completed. Unsure what is the issue you are still experiencing.
Usually, we'll see. I do find Sedo and Dan to be quicker tho.

Had a Dan sale yesterday. Sold while I was sleeping.

Woke up, sent auth code at 3:55 pm yesterday. Got paid 4:15 am today. A little over 12 hours. That's how you do it.

Somebody buys your domain, sends in the money to 3rd Party (dan, sedo, godaddy, whatever)

Domain gets sent to buyer, they have control.

Then the money just hangs out doing what. It's not like the funds are being hand delivered to my home, it's not some physical check you put in the envelope sent thru snail mail. It's some keyboard clicks, clicks of a mouse. Should be moving quicker with the payment. If the money is paid, domain is delivered, payment should be sent, not held.

I think Afternic really needs to work on getting payments out much quicker. Sedo and Dan are faster. I know it's called Fast Transfer but Fast Payout would be nice.

Domain Sold

"There is no action needed from you at this time and we will send you an email within 7-10 days regarding your payment."

10 days?

Transfer complete but Payout - Not Scheduled

I've had Dan and Sedo payout the next day.
Hi @JB Lions
Thanks for your feedback. We started significant work with speeding up domain sales payouts in 2023 with expedited payouts that cover sales via a number of venues - that work sped up payouts significantly. But, our Fast Transfer network of 100+ partners has more complexities and engineering challenges involved to change the payout process, and therefore wasn't included in our expedited payout update.

We will, of course, continue to refine our entire Fast Transfer network, which provides an unparalleled level of exposure for domains in our network (85 million search queries per month).

37 days and still counting.
Tried to connect the transaction assurance team via email and call.
Tickets closed without the issue being resolved.
@GoDaddy
Hi @Parmeet
We're sorry to hear that - Please could you DM us with the domain name you sold?

@GoDaddy Hi team, I have sent you the domain name via DM. Please let me know if there is anything else required from my end.

I bought a couple Afternic listings last week via the GoDaddy checkout path.

I have not received the domains yet, which is fine.

However, both domains are still listed for sale on Afternic.

In fact, if you search on GoDaddy both domains still show available to buy.

What is going on with the syndication?

Surely when you buy the domain via the GoDaddy checkout process, it should be removed from Afternic. Right?

If not, that is obviously an issue.

I talked to someone at GoDaddy about this and was told there was "an issue on the back end of the sale".

The transactions had to be refunded, and processed again.

The listings are still on Afternic, but I was told they should be removed within (24) hours.

They said it was an isolated issue, but I have heard others experience this as well.

Will see what happens...

Haha. Isolated, my foot!

That is what I see via the GoDaddy checkout process when pulling in an Afternic listing.

What does "verified domain" mean exactly?

We continually conduct experiments at GoDaddy to enhance the sell-through rate of aftermarket domain names. Our latest experiment focuses on highlighting aftermarket inventory. This iteration shows a "Verified Domain" badge, as you mentioned. This will guide future versions of the front-end experience.

But what does "Verified" mean?
Yeah, that is my main question.

What is "verified"?

There is nothing shown to explain what that means exactly.

I will DM you.

After my update yesterday, the issue still remains.

I am dealing with my account rep who confirmed the listings were still not removed.

They still show up on Afternic and via the GoDaddy checkout path.

I was told it was sent back to the Transaction Assurance team to get it fixed.

Maybe 3rd time is the charm?

It seems unlikely that this is an isolated issue.

It is NOT isolated. Afternic is a MESS RIGHT NOW - and as been for a bit. I have two domains unpaid to me (4 days and 2 weeks old), Many listings constantly getting stuck in review and other madness.

It seems like almost every time I buy a domain via Afternic or GoDaddy, it becomes a hassle in some way.

It's quite frustrating.

Is it possible the name is listed on DAN by someone and it's auto syndicated back to Afternic ? Whenever I try to add a name at Afternic there is like a 50% chance I can't because it's incorrectly/intentionally wrongly listed by a shady DAN account. Then I spend 15-20 mins wasting time on DNS/TXT record verification to add it.

In this case the domains are not listed on Dan. They are directly listed on Afternic, using Afternic landers.

Even after buying the domains, getting a refund, and GoDaddy reprocessing the transaction, the websites still load the Afternic BIN landers.

You can also add them via the GoDaddy checkout path.

If another party is able to somehow swoop in and buy these, I am going to be highly annoyed.

Meanwhile, I bought a domain via Dan.com this morning. It was already moved from Dynadot to GoDaddy, and pushed to my account.

Anyone else seeing a problem with names pointed to Afternic? I get a phishing warning no matter what name I check.

What browser are you using?

I have been that issue on both my mobile and regular internet connection, in Chrome.

Is it possible to bulk update the LTO option for all my portfolio?

I saw that I can enable the LTO option on the "pricing" update model box, but it also asks for new BIN, min. offer and floor price. So I couldn't be sure about what will change exactly because I don't want to change pricing, just need to enable LTO option.

I was up all night working on a lead/sale and fell out shortly after my post...it was happening in chrome...I was so out of it I forgot to try it using another browser!

It is still happening in Chrome...a try of two other browsers give normal results. Hopefully @GoDaddy will share some info with us.

If you are experiencing these as a professional, I cannot even imagine what the end user who wants to buy a domain name from the aftermarket is experiencing.

I use Firefox and have the same issue
Could it be the security software rather than the browser? I am able to access sites pointed to Afternic in both Firefox and Chrome but my security software (Malwarebytes) is blocking sites using Sedo NS.

I've seen this several times with Sedo and Malwarebytes. The current run, though, seems to be several days with Malwarebytes blocking all Sedo NS sites. I have seen Sedo serve nasty zero-click advertising so I can see a possible cause for the block. Sedo suggested that I contact Malwarebytes.

The Afternic system is quite confused today and is now starting to send emails stating that no BIN has been set for a large number of domains. Upon further inspection, a BIN has actually been set up for these domains. In the Afternic portfolio overview, the domains mentioned are listed on BIN and a BIN is also shown when visiting the individual landers. But when exporting all domains, numerous domains are set to "Request Price". Even an additional "Bulk Lander Update" to put these specific domains on BIN again doesn't help to solve this inconsistency.
