By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

AFAIK:
1) "on hold" in new afternic interface = pending sale = cannot be deleted
2) in review (not pending sale) = can be deleted

checking the domain in classic interface may give better idea what happened/happens with it

Is anyone currently able to bulk change prices via CSV upload? I haven't been able to do it for a few days now.

I'm really frustrated with the lead center/broker system.

I'm not receiving any notifications about what's happening with my lead center.
Your brokers are handling all my leads without asking for my opinion or keeping me informed.
I have to constantly check my account and message brokers to find out what's going on.
I've spoken to support and asked about this with five different brokers, but I haven't gotten any results.

While we're wasting time, buyers have the opportunity to change their minds.

The buyer came back with a lower offer of $320 USD. We are working to have them honor their previous offer of $324 USD. If by chance you would consider the lower gross offer of $320, please let us know. Otherwise, we are currently waiting for the buyer's response if they can honor the previous offer.


I've skipped over some irrelevant messages.

So, here we can see 3 things :

1. I was never informed about these offers.

2. The broker is trying to save me $4, risking ruining the transaction!

3. I would have accepted this offer four days ago if I were allowed to do so...

Something is going seriously wrong.
After months of complaining and talking to support + brokers about this, I just received this email from [email protected]

"We make sure to send every seller a email notification whenever there is any activity on their domains. We see the last time someone made an offer was at the end of January 2023. We do not see anything else that would indicate us to contact you about any offers any one has made."

There are 17 leads created in my account since the end of January 2023.
Afternic support can't see leads in my account and the brokers are not communicating with support.

Good job once again Afternic!

Thanks again for helping me out. Damn, i was hoping till last that this is not the solutions to go with. But i'll start the process immediately. Gladly Dynadot had the transfer coupon this month and i renewed / transfered out the keeper domains expiring within the next two month. You really need to fix this @GoDaddy. Thinking of a sale right now which i'd need an AUTH code for and not be able to login for lots of more days - even weeks - from now on. I mean you got a lot of infos to check where the problem could be. It all started when i activated 2SV SMS at Godaddy. Like i said. For afternic the 2SV was no problem for more than a year or so. Is the problem that we can't have the same phone number at both afternic and godaddy at the same time? I don't know. Keep starting the cancel process of 2SV and hoping for the best.
No problem man. It was super frustrating for me when I was in your position so I get it. I had 2SV on both accounts for years too and out of nowhere in April I started getting those error messages and all of sudden, I can't login to either account. I never actually got a clear cut answer on why it happened. All they said was the dev team solved the issue. I also asked them if having the same 2SV phone number could cause issues in the future and they said most likely no. I use 2FA for every account of mine but I definitely don't want to go down that road again.

The floor price is $30 for all of my domains.
The leads appear normally in my lead center.
I just don't get any notification about them, and I have to check it all the time.
Because I don't trust their brokers of course...

Check my attachments and you will see that's not the case.

I have received 17 leads from January that aren't visible to Afternic's support.
About half of them turned into sales.
In some others there are ongoing negotiations for like a month.
And every time the broker assures me that I will be notified from now on

It's been hit or miss for me lately.
When the uploads do actually work, they take well over an hour to complete. (As if they're being sent to a team to upload.)
3 years of beta and the platform has never been worse.
We can't even manually add 50 at a time anymore without having to use workarounds.

I just noticed this now. There's a chat function on the NS5/NS6 sales page. They must be testing it. Text showed Chat With An Expert beside the chat bubble icon.

Who's idea was it to add a 30 second delay to the "continue" button on step 1 of adding domains in the classic version?
Even with the delay, it's still faster and most importantly, more efficient than adding domains in beta.

I tried to bulk update yesterday. It would not work in the original platform.

I finally got two separate BULK uploads to work using the BETA platform. It still took a little while to process, but I would say less than an hour for each bulk file. The reason I did 2 files was the first was just a test of about 10 domain names. The seconds was a much larger bulk update.

In order to minimize the "enjoyment" of using afternic GUI, be it old or new, Afternic should provide instant API access (as an alternative) for any and all members. Imo.

Hi everyone !

I don't know if someone else shares the same feeling but the afternic new ownership verification seems quite irritating to me.

I asked Afternic to remove from its sales listing 2 domain names that I recently bought. These 2 domains were listed before I bought them by the previous owners.

I am asked to:
Login to your Afternic account to locate your NS or TXT record.

Contact your registrar or use their control panel to add the NS verification code as a third nameserver. Or add a TXT record with your DNS provider.

Once that is done, wait a few hours and navigate back to your Afternic account, open the Beta version and then under the Portfolio section on the left-hand side, select Add Domain.


=> I don't understand why I am asked to execute all these steps just because the previous owner didn't take the time or was not seriously enough to remove the domains he owned. There are other ways to check ownership.

And I also wonder how new owners with no afternic account are gonna do !

This was just a return of experience.

@GoDaddy why do not you add more extensions to Afternic DLS/Fast transfer program.
.club and .tv as you own the registry so is very easy to transfer, some popular cctlds like .me and other new gtlds

what is the problem with txt records, it works and is matter of seconds to add
I have created a dns template as default at dynadot that includes my TXTs for afternic, gd, dan, sedo and names take it by default and can add everywhere without problems.

Godaddy support #part II:
And again - a bad experience with a support guide from Godaddy.

We needed to start at the beginning again (no front against the supporter. He need to get the infos - but for me this is pretty annoying as i told the problem the supporter yesterday already).

They asked for the support PIN again which i can not provide because i have no access to my acounts! lol.
Then he asked for the TAN code he sent me to my phone which i provided. And i named him a code he sent to my mailadress.

And then we were ready to start:

Here we go again. Told him that the 2FA login do not work and provided screenshots:

After clicking on login this page / error comes up next. No SMS TAN sent out.

Translation "This phone number can't be used".

After some back and forth he sent an invatation to reset my password. Which i did.

Then he told to try it again.... it did not work. He told me to check multiple times (f.e. to use my customer number instead of mailadress, etc.).

Then the 2FA is blocked for 24 hours because of the high frequency login tries:

I told him that my account is locked for now and we can't do anything (that told me the supporter yesterday).

He answered i don't have to worry. He'll sent the problem to specialists and we go on to try to login at afternic. I was happy he'd gonna try some more. Then he asked if i know the way to delet the 2FA at all. I told him that i have seen that option but would not prefer to do that because then i have to upload my ID and business documents which i'm fine with because of the security reasons but i guess this will take lots more business days which i do not want to wait to get access to my portfolio.

Then the Godaddy support went cheeky and angry:

Translated he says:
"Well! Then you have to wait for 24 hours until the lock is over. And i have to say that your 2FA works fine. I sent you a code [i mentioned at the beginning of the post - the TAN for legitimation] and it worked. Your account should be able to login easily! [sounds for me like he'd like to add, "you stupid customer!", to the end]

ARE YOU SERIUOS??? I told him multiple times that i can not login. Showed screenshots. Were kindly. And he tells me that i'm wrong at all and there is no problem. Un-be-livable! That is not how a support should work like. This is so EPIK or NetworkSolutions like...Damn! I quited the chat. Still got no solution to access my accounts.

Will try it tommorrow again. Maybe there is no other option then deleting the 2FA via form and waite more days to be able to login again. If so i'll do that but just need someone to tell me that is the (only) way! Afternic login worked since day one the 2FA was integrated... Didn't see a huge problem like this coming especially at godaddy. :(


It is day 6 (six!!!) now and i'm still not able to login at godaddy and afternic.
This is so unprofessional. Did receive an message from the deletion process of the 2SV yesterday morning.
They needed a selfie of me taking a photo with my ID. I answered really quick. And then? Noting heared till now.
In my opinion the error "his phone number can't be used" could be from the third partie who provides the 2SV.
But we will never no - there is absolutly no support or clear statement from godaddy at all.

For those of you who use NS3/NS4 for the most of the portfolio:

Will i receive a mail for an offer which results from a qualified lead? And/or do the broker pick up the phone to give me a call if i do not answer?
I told you about the $14,995 listing i got an qualified lead for and i know who did the price request (well founded enduser registered other matching TLDs the same day the inquiry came in). Would love to have a look at the activities on that transaction but i can't and it would be calming to know that if there is some action i will be informed.

What is the use of your "Minimum Bid" value if Afternic brokers can flood your email box with $0 "Price Inquiries"?

If my Minimum Bid on a domain is $10K, then don't even think of contacting me unless you get an offer in that range. Seems pretty easy to understand, otherwise, why even have us waste time filling in that Min Bid field?

In afternic, in the lead center under "broker activity" if there is a "buyer call logged" status does that mean there was a conversation or is it just an attempt to call buyer?

Would any information ever been disclosed about a conversation with buyer that might actually be relevant to the seller? Such as the buyer saying the initial offer is their final offer? Would a broker ever disclose that even if the buyer never said to tell the seller that?

In addition to the post above...

I recently asked more than one broker was he representing me or the buyer...I got no response to that specific question.

Are we to always assume the broker is working for the buyer? Or is the broker always working for us (seller)? If it can go either way, for whatever reason, there should be an icon on each lead showing the broker status.

I am not even being notified about my leads and brokers actions...
I emailed support 13 days ago, but I have no news yet...

I think that when a buyer is making a direct offer, that appears in the lead center.
"buyer call logged" status must be any interest from a buyer, like just some questions about the process.
But you can never know because brokers doesn't tell you anything because of "Privacy Policies"...

Post a screenshot of what they got or a broken link as you dont want valid link np tos draconian
