Hello everybody,

Perhaps you would like to check the "Fast Transfer" status of your domains listed in Afternic.
I was going through my listings today and found out that Fast Transfer had been enabled for many of my domains without my permission even being asked for (absolutely no notice, nor the usual email to the whois contact).

Upon closer examination, I noticed that FT is "on" also for domains that I have listed as "Make offer" -isn't a BIN price an elegibility requirement for FT?. Furthermore, some of those domains, that do show as FT-enabled (I repeat, without my authorization), come up as "not available" when I type them into GoDaddy's registration search bar.

To sum up, I am of course contacting their Support, but I have thought that maybe it's not affecting just me, that's why I am reporting this here.

I can confirm that Afternic is having listing issues. I noticed problems -- different than yours E. Silvera -- earlier today and did a CSV upload with reconcile hoping to get a clean update. That did not work so I contacted my representative. He confirmed that quite a few accounts were seeing the same problem and that the developers were working on a fix.

I noticed that my account was showing too many domains. Somehow domains that had expired or otherwise been deleted had reappeared. The CSV update with reconcile did not eliminate the bad listings. Those names were definitely NOT in my upload and the upload did not clear them.

I did some spot checking of availability for those names on GoDaddy, Dynadot, and Namecheap. The bad listings did not seem to have fed out to the distribution network. Maybe if Afternic.com itself still had sales they would appear there because I can look up the names in my account and they appear there as live and listed.

I've a similar listing issue with 28 of my names (out of ~380). I have set all of my domains as "Fast Transfer". I have BIN and I have opted them IN to FT at my registrar.

For some reason (which they've been looking into) these 28 domains come up as "Opt In Required". This has been going on for quite a while. It SEEMS, by my own manual checking, that these domains are appearing "in FT network" but why should I have to check that for them?

All of this should be set and forget but its not. Its set and HOPE it doesnt change.

As a software developer with 40+ years under my belt, it is very painful to watch a company valued at $20 Billion USD continually behave like I would expect some start up in a garage behave: making almost the same errors over and over, seemingly using "bandage" fixes, which break something else INSTEAD OF a mature company which can throw tremendous resources at problems.

I sold my first domain at the original AfterNIC in June 2004. That very basic system (go look at it on the Interet Archive) worked very well. Fast forward 20 years and 20 billion dollars and I feel like the system we use hangs by threads and hope.

I think they should rethink their software development situation. The public doesnt see this stuff, we do. The public purchases a domain and/or hosting and whatever other services but we're almost internal and yet we seem to have a whisper for a voice.

Something needs to drastically change.

UPDATE: This was resolved as a bug in the interface.
