Sold a domain via Fast Transfer on Mar. 19; I waited, and a few days later inside my account, Afternic listed an “estimated” payout date of Mar. 29. And Paypal payment was made on that very day. (Thank goodness I’d just updated my payment details and tax info that afternoon. )

Seems the system has been repaired?

I think Afternic payouts shouldn't take so long especially if the domain was fast transferred and the new owner builds a website out... that makes me assume the payment passed fraud checks and they have no reason to keep holding your money for days on end.

Is it still taking 8-10 days ? I just made a small sale there (rarely do one on Afternic) and got the 8-10 day thing. Makes no sense since they already claim the transfer completed hours after the sale.

I've made two on friday and saturday, and after the transfer is finished it should say that the payment will be disbursed in the next 7 days. I've heard that the average should be 3-5 days( still a lot, considering that the transfer was finished in 1 hour or so) but today is tuesday and no sign yet.

It may be even up to ~3 weeks from my 1st and the last experience at GoDaddy Auctions in Feb'2018...
Afternic payouts are processed via the same backend.

This is why I dont like sales through them. Last year one of my sales was claimed to be paid by buyer, waited 10 days for transfer, finally "transferred", waited 10 days for payment, but then got the fraud email.

Turns out it never really transferred and the buyer was not a fraud, nobody at Afternic could give a solid reason as to what went wrong. Buyer went to Sedo and bought same domain there after I relisted it with no issues.

Afternic probably has the biggest audience, but for some reason the most clunky and archaic listing and sales service.

I don't use Afternic/GD...
This was just 1 sale due to some abnormal buyer from Barcelona who rejected Sedo and Payoneer Escrow.

Even do they reach to a bigger audience, comparing them to undeveloped, with sales in the same week through undeveloped and afternic, undeveloped answered in couple of hours, the transfer was finished in a few hours and in less than 24 hours, the money were in my bank account, through international bank transfer. Afternic needs 3 days just to answer an email and payout in 7 days if you are lucky.

As an update, I've contacted service@, beause the whois was changed in the first day for the domains sold thru fast transfer. So the response was that they still need 8-13 days after the whois change to check the funds. What??? So, @Joe Styler, in 2019 you transfer the domain to the buyer and than you start checking the funds for 13 days? This is the new payment update from march-april?

Yes, the transfer itself is so fast that you get an email saying a domain is leaving your account before you get told of the sale. I actually contacted my registrar's support, thinking that someone had infiltrated my account. The Whois was already changed by the time I was notified. .. Then I get an email saying my domain was sold.

Still, it takes about 10 days to be paid.

New update regarding afternic fast transfer payout. First, after they have changed whois in one hour after the transfer has started( so the transfer was done in one hour), they said that the payment will be disbursed automatically in the next 7 days(so basically the payment could be done in any of the 7 days). Then, the seventh day asked service@ what the update with the payments, so that they will not forget about them. They said that actually, they wait for the seven days to pass, and pay in the 8th day(nobody knows why they wait 7 days, when the whois is changed in the first day). Then in the 8th day, I receive an email that the the payment was scheduled in the 13 day(estimated, so not even then is not sure). This is godaddy/afternic fast transfer, a messed up system, that I don't think that has a cure. In 2019 they need 2/3 weeks after the transfer of the domain, to pay you, sounds worst than network solutions.

Consolidation by large companies like Godaddy and Tucows always makes things worse. Afternic used to respond to messages within minutes. Now you have to call to get their attention.

This is really stupid, I mean its been 72 hours after my tiny sale (mid $xxx) and transfer is complete almost instantly, it still shows "payout not scheduled", but now we go into a holiday weekend in the USA so thats 3-4 days with zero tech support on sales. Maybe Tuesday I can get someone to tell me whats going on. :xf.rolleyes:

My last payment from Afternic took 15 days AFTER the fast transfer was completed. It would have been longer if I hadn't called.

Did you calculate what sum you lose yearly by gifting 20% to GD/Afternic?

Don't care. Its just one more possible sale platform. I use 5, the more eyeballs, the better.

I had many buyers from GoDaddy... and my domains were not listed at Afternic/GD.

The only good think it's their network...I wonder what effect will have the fact that Sedo doesn't charge a minimum commission anymore, so the low sales could emigrate to sedo now, because they have their network of resellers. It's not necessary about commission, because sedo charges 20%, brandable marketplaces 25%-30%, the idea is that for this kind of commission, they threat you like you own them everything because you have made a sale and they ignore you(72 hours or more to reply to an email is huge) and payouts of 13-22 days, when others are paying in hours....that's just mockery towards us. When I have asked them how is possible to move a domain in an hour, change the whois and just after that to start clearing the funds, when it will be hard to recover the domain, the answer was: 'reach out if you do not receive your funds within this timeframe', something like -if you are complaining, we will make sure to make it even longer.

They use your money all these weeks...
0% loans with 20% bonus - in other words. Very comfortable model.

Yeah, six days since the sale, still no scheduled payout date. I will wait until day 8 and send an email.

On the other hand, I sold cliche.tv last night on Undeveloped, it transferred and payment is coming within 24 hours. All this so far done in about 12 hours time, Sunday night into Monday morning.
