I just ordered what will be indeed a very interesting Afternic appraisal for the domain name Poker.in. Afternic appraisals go all over the place, but they seem to favor solid keyword ccTLDs from the appraisals I've had done. However, it remains to be seen how they look at .in as there is not a single appraisal on Afternic of a .in or .co.in name! I'm only ordering the appraisal because it is forced in order to home feature the name...otherwise I wouldn't bother.
So...I'll do 2 different prizes: Whoever gets closest to the CMV (Current Market Value) and whoever gets closest to the PMV (Potential Market Value). 100 NP$ to each winner. None of that "closest without going over" crap, but I will say that a tie (as in 1 person under by X, the other over by X) goes to the lower guess. Make your guesses soon, as once the appraisal is completed by Afternic, the contest is over and the winners will be announced! They usually take a couple days to do their appraisals.
I'll start. Given the highest ccTLD appraisal I ever got on Afternic (CMV $17,900, PMV $81,200 for Business.tc) and that I would hope to holy hell they rate .in 30/50 Ext value, I'm going for about double the CMV and 50% PMV...my guess is CMV $36,000, PMV $125,000. If I win, I'll buy myself a cookie or something. Good luck!
A couple of facts that might assist your guess:
1. Sedo appraised it in July of last year for $2,500. IMO a very short-sighted appraisal by them, but whatever!
2. I've been told that the reason why the name wasn't accepted into Afternic's Showcase was because the price I was asking for was too high (min bid at the time was $90k). When I lowered it to $60k and resubmitted it, it still didn't get in. That might however not mean a whole heck of a lot however because they never accepted the aforementioned Business.tc either, even with its 5-figure appraisal being higher than a lot of the Showcase asking prices and my price being below the appraisal. Nonetheless, read into this what you will, as I almost take that to mean they are evaluating it somehow even though they aren't doing an appraisal on it. Afternic is plain bass ackwards.
