Advice Needed about a problem with a domain sale

Good Afternoon all

I am looking for some advice, I recently sold a domain on sedo for $1000, very nice you may think but I have been told today after a month that the buyer as not paid and sedo can not contact the buyer so the domain as been re-listed for sale.

The problem I have is two fold

1. I have turned down better offers in the last month due to my commitment to the sale via sedo and have now lost these sales.

2. Sedo has provided me with the guys name and address for me to follow up and press any action I see fit

What would you advice me to do in this situation and what can I do about it within the law?

The domain is SAB.CO nice little domain that as had a lot of interest over the last year I really hope this moron fake buyer as not messed up any future sale. I wish we had a section to name and shame these scam buyers...

Well it all depends where you buyer is from and what the law of the land there states in terms of suing him for breach of contract.

I would envision that it'd cost you more money to pursue this person, my advice is to swallow the bitter pill and try selling your domain because it's a long road trying to teach someone a lesson.

Thank you, he's from Spain and I'm in the UK so yes it would be a pain to sue him, if he was in the UK I believe I could have taken him to the small claims courts but I know nothing about Spanish law...

This is the 3rd time now I have lost sales via sedo they should really make sure that all buyers are approved IMO, as anyone else had any problems like this?

I had a domain GE1, guy put in a Sedo bid because he thought it was GEL. Sedo asked if we should pursue him, but I declined. It's really up to sedo to better police who is putting in the offers.

when you have a sale, sedo collects the commission. But when you have problem, sedo does not help. If someone breaks the law, do you let him go so that he can harm the next victim? I think you should contact this guy and talk to him, at least next time when he does the same thing he will think twice about it.

This is not the first time a buyer doesn't push through with the deal on Sedo. And i'm sure Sedo has seen this happen many times already. It's becoming a part of life.

I'm not sure if people would deliberately do fake buy offers just to annoy sellers. There is no financial gain from it, and you wasted time for nothing.

Fake buyers aside, it's also possible the buyer suddenly had an unforseen event. Maybe he went bankrupt. Maybe he had an accident, needed the money, and buying the domain is the last thing in his mind at the moment.

I believe it is okay to contact the previous offers you had and explain the domain is for sale again after your original buyer failed to complete the payment and 'paperwork'.

I think spurned suitors would reconsider, especially if you explain to them what happened. But i'm betting they will offer a lower bidding price the second time around.
