I Need Advice on Domain Sale

Someone agreed to buy one of my SEDO listed domains on June 8, 2005. Since that time, they've been stalling, and to this day I they haven't sent their money into the SEDO escrow system.

I have another serious buyer who is ready to pay for the domain right now, but I am bound to the SEDO agreement until June 30, 2005. I don't want to wait, because I don't see why I should wait. If the buyer was serious he/she would have closed to deal by now, no doubt!

I emailed SEDO twice and they want me to wait until June 30. I need a legal way out of this. Can anyone offer any advice? At this point, I'm even willing to risk getting my SEDO account terminated, since this and other experiences have left a bad taste in my mouth. Any advice appreciated.

I dont use sedo but isnt there system like registerfly's enscrow?

The only thing you can do is to wait...Is the

other person who is interested in the domain

going to wait? IF he/she is then just wait until JUNe 30th. :imho: the seller

should be able to cancell the tranaction if he is not paid within a week.

I can understand that you want to sell to this new buyer but you will only have to wait about a week before you are able to sell, so in this case do I think the best thing is to explain the new buyer that you not are able to sell until June 30th. If the new buyer is serious am I sure that they will wait 9 days.

Trying to find a legal way out of this and discuss with Sedo could easily take longer than 9 days.

Good luck.

I am being forced to wait for a buyer who I am almost 100% is not serious. I am sick and tired of dealing with BS bidders on my domains, and I am prepared to engage in a risky alternative in order to get out of this deal. I am sick and tired!

Your best bet would be to make the deal outside of sedo I guess. Just remove the domain from the sedo auction listings, and sell it to him then. If the old, stalling buyers asks about it, say that it was sold via another domain parking site.

I would wait until the 30th for the first buyer.I suspect you are under legal obligation to do so.I've had buyers not pay at Sedo so I can understand the frustration. If the second buyer is serious and can't wait until the 30th,I'd be very suspicious......

why would you be suspicious? Maybe he is in a hurry or something? :p

anyways...I wouldnt be suspicious but if i was you i would wait. How much

was the first guy supposed to pay?

I am not at liberty to discuss numbers because whoever ends up buying the name may want to keep the price private. I'll certainly share the selling price if the person who ends up buying the name doesn't mind.

Have you explained the situation to your more "active" buyer?
Is the new buyer a higher-priced buyer ;)
Has Sedo mentioned any contact with the old buyer?

My take: You've got 1 week to wait, might as well... Chances are if you had 2 buyers that quickly, you'll get another soon if for some reason this new ones fall through.

Hi Allan:

I have been in constant communication with the new buyer; and that's a big plus for me since I have no idea who the SEDO buyer is. I have 100% confidence that the "active" buyer is serious.

Slightly higher; nothing substantial.

No, and that's my #1 complaint about SEDO (I have quite a few!) All my previous sales were handled by AfterNIC, where I am always able to have a conversation with the buyer in case of a situation like this. SEDO, on the other hand, keeps the buyer's identity concealed from the seller, which I have always thought was pretty darn lame.

Dealing with SEDO is an exercise in frustration (<---quote of the year.)

Thanks to all for your comments. I can report that I made a decision earlier today, but I can't communicate anything more at this time. I will update this thread once this saga concludes.
