:) Well I must admit I have looked at some of the names being regged lately and a smile has appeared on my face.

It appears to me that a critical threshold has been reached in the .tv market.

I know you can still pay $500 p.a. + (subject to negotiations) and still get a half decent "premium" domain name....

but is it just me or could it be, given recent reg postings, that 99% of the good "non-premium" names are now taken? :)

I totally agree with you. If you can afford a premium name, the chances of getting something special and worthwhile are way much higher and there are still some good ones for decent prices available. Furthermore the .tv forum starts to look more and more like a .tv appraisal forum nowadays :)

I agree too. It is obvious that the best non premium names are left. Maybe it is the most appropriate time to remind/advise that 1 quality premium carefully selected is worth than regging today some 15 non-premium names. I do not mind if the .tv forum shows more and more apraisals, this demonstrates the going interest and inspiration for the extension. What I miss today is the spontanity & enthusiasm we got a few months ago in the exchange of ideas, projects, sharing of articles, but if the forum may look empty compared to this passionate period and although some 'big guys' are not so often visible like in the past, look the forum is still alive and I am sure it will show new eruptions ! -Tribute to those who have and those, old and new comers, who contribute to it-. This does not explain that but I think for some of us the recent release of the .eu extension has taken a bit of our attention time and money, for others I believe that they keep their breath til the future results of the HRTS .tv auction on Greatdomains (April 27) as the best indicator of the true value of top .tv premiums, and whether this large auction will give an additional boost the .tv market.
Just my โ‚ฌ2cents including my apologies for my limited English fluency :)

Its true that most of the good non-premium names are done. probably 1% of the names are left. Its worth reg. one good .TV premium name than 10 not so good names. I have decided to only look at premium names from now. I think a good .TV sale on Dnjournal would get back a lot of activity into this forum. But, a lot of those big players who used to be around haven't been posting much.

JohnTV, how have your developments been (isn't see.tv urs)

Grant ( I hvn't got a mail from you for a long time)

Argos( what happened to the updates you used to give us)

antonis( what abt the premium reg.'s per week.)

Argos, like you, I also think that the HRTS auction will be an important measure to see where the .tv extension is standing now. A succesful auction might be the trigger .tv needs. Vimal, yes see.tv is mine, but my developing goes slow. Brasil.tv, czech.tv and monaco.tv are finished now. Have started with hiring someone here in Kenya working on the development full time, but keeping the TV streams on the TV sites 'up to date' is already taking 1 to 2 days a week. I figured out I need to hire 2 extra people to have all sites completed somewhere in the future and to start to work on my project with Equity (sorry for the extra delay Equity :) The 'problem' is I have too many names costing too much reg fee, therefore I need to go the extra mile with developing, luckily salaries over here are not very high. I think that a good HRTS sale (that is kids.tv go way over $50,000) will get this forum more alive and kicking than ever.

Its interesting though because in a sense the .tv domains were always going to struggle until that critical mass was achieved. Take see.tv for example - whilst watch.tv and other synonyms are available it was always going to be hard to increase the value of that domain.

One sign to watch for is when people start regging names like online[word].tv and e[word].tv and i[word].tv.

These aren't neccessarily bad names but its a good sign when they are being regged because it means that the equivalent noun is gone, which in most cases will be the superior name.

And there are a hell of a lot of words out there so there must by deduction have been a lot of .tv names regged recently for us to see some of the more recent (dare I say it second rate) regs.

It's very selfish but it is nice to see that most of the top names are now taken. It means that the TLD can now start to grow (in value) and I think we will now see more $$$ being thrown around for the best names.

John, seeing as you own see.tv you must be pretty interested in how Watch.tv goes in the www.tv auction huh?

Yes, indeed, although the difference is that watch.tv will be a normal reg fee name after the auction and the reg fee for see.tv is 600/year. I'm really curious how the auction will go, if is goes very well it will get some attention and this can trigger .tv IMO.
