As we now have different opinions on the stated quote and as I'm not as sure about the quote's destiny as I've been before this thread, I thought that there is one simple solution to find out who really said that domains continue to go up in value faster than any other commodity ever known to man. Yes, I emailed Mr Gates. Might take some time to get a reply from him, but maybe I'm lucky :]

I'm pretty sure this is said by Rick Schwartz. Seen it on some internet page, something with "realestate" - maybe eRealestate.com??? I don't think Bill Gates would put it that way, and as one of the mods said, why haven't he bought up a lot of premium names then? For 100 millions he would get a lot of domains, or why not 500 million. He could get any name he likes..

The quote is right on in my opinion. Domain names must be one of the world most fluctual commodities. Can you think of ANYTHING more fluctual. drugs perhaps.

yes but by which time all the premium names will be gone.

The only names left will be very un memorable names or very long names either that or undesireable extensions.

The quote was in relation I beleive to the desirable names that are already taken.
