I imagine most of you know what blu-ray is, so I won't post the specs of it here. I've put google search numbers (when including quotations, minus the .com) beside each domain.

blu-raydiscdrive.com (118,000 for "blu-ray disc drive")
blu-raydiscdrives.com (15,500 for "blu-ray disc drives")
blu-raydiscplayer.com (593,000 for "blu-ray disc player")
bluraydiscdrive.com (same as above with hyphen)
bluraydiscdrives.com (same as above with hyphen)

I'm getting about 4-5 type-ins per day on most of these, and I just recently put up the ability for people to purchase items on the site.

Thanks for the input, folks. :)

Blu-Ray is a TM registered by the Blu-Ray Disc Association. This association is full of very heavy hitters (see below). I think you are treading very dangerous waters with those domains! I'm not sure you have a TM issue when combined with the other words in your domains, but "Blu-Ray" is defintely *not* a generic term.

Best of luck!

"Blu-Ray" is NOT trademarked. Sony are trying to trademark it in the US and the application is ongoing and looks to have been contested. "Blu-Ray Disk" is trademarked. Since Blu-Ray anything is likely to be promoting Blu-Ray Sony and other manufacturers are hardly likely to go after the registrants. It's in the interests of every other manufacturer for Sony not to get a Blu-Ray trademark because it's these organisations Sony and others will go after.

That's interesting input, akcampbell. Did you read the link I posted above? It seems to say otherwise, but I may have misinterpreted it.

The research I've done after your post says similar things to what akcampbell is mentioning. Others have input?

The "e" was left out so "Blu-Ray Disk" could be registered as a trademark. Note the little "TM" opposite "Blu-Ray Disk" in the blue logos. Also note the "not associatated with the Blu-Ray Disk Association" statement at the bottom of the home page. Blu-Ray.com has nothing to do with Sony or the Blu-Ray Disk Association.

Here is a link to the tarr status for the "Blu Ray Disc" TM:

http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=76421367

Registration Date: 2004-11-09

The paperwork seems pretty clear on the TM status.

It has a marked drawing code of "(1) TYPED DRAWING", similar to the Standard Character code, although they do not make the standard character claim.

"Blu-Ray" is also registered as a "(3) DESIGN PLUS WORDS, LETTERS, AND/OR NUMBERS". (weaker than the typed drawing code)
