Blu-Ray.co.in

Just regged www.Blu-Ray.co.in today. Couldn't believe that it wasn't taken yet. Do you think it has much value?

Blu-ray Disc is a growing technology & it always has a "hyphen" in it's name. I know people always prefer domains without hyphens, but this name always has a hyphen. Does it help having the hyphen?

The term "blu-ray" is quotes, bring up 51,000,000 items when searched on Google.

very nice pick up, I am very unsure about the potential value due to the extension, but nice reg all the same ;)

It will depend also a lot on if this technology wins out over HD-DVD format. If it does, that helps you all the more.

Thanks for the comments. Anybody else would be able to put an approximate vaule on this one?

not untill the HD / blu-ray war is over.

but that extension I think makes it a bit hard to give a quote on its price. on my own personal opinion id say 2x reg fee ATM but it will only go up as bluray gets more popular.

I dont know who would win the war. but HD DVD's are also backwards compatable with normal dvd players where blu-ray is not. but then again hybrid disks of both blueray and HD DVD are on the same disk/

This domain name I would say would only increase in value id say hold it for a year then sell it but your choice.

HD-DVD can only be played in a regular DVD player if it is a combo HD/SD DVD disc. Most of them are not. However, no Blu-ray discs will play in a standard DVD player.

Since you can find most standard DVDs on sale for $10 or used $5, I don't personally find much value in HD/SD combos.

TotalHD looks interesting.

Sorry, I also don't know enough about .co.in to place a value on this domain, but blu-ray.anything is a good investment if the format wins.

I think the Blu-Ray/HDDVD war already is over and unfortunately for you Blu Ray is the big loser. I don't have exact arguments but time after time stories show up about Blu Ray limitations etc. You'll have to check the tech sites (e.g. digg.com) for more information though.

That's great information. You should be a financial advisor. :)
Trust me, I read the tech sites everyday (the ones that digg links to).
Right now everything is up for grabs and billions of dollars is at stake. Hopefully we will see a winner by the end of 2007.

I stopped reading Digg except for light entertainment because posts tend to be highly-biased, dramatic, and propoganda to promote adsense links on someone's "tech" blog. Google News has the same info without the fanboyism.

it is not over officially, but I agree with keesj. Now HD-DVD has come out with a 3 layer 51G disc, so the (50G) Blu-ray doesn't have the main advantage they have been touting - more space. Sony miscalculated on beta vs VHS and it looks like history is repeating itself.

I'm a little bias tho, cause I got some hd dvd names earlier (hddvds.net, hddvdduplicators.com, hddvdtitles.com, hddvdmakers.com).

I think those hyphens in blu-ray are perfectly fine since users will type it in that way. This is an exception to the rule....

I am getting the most traffic with blurayexperience.com only because the BDA uses experiencebluray.com.

The trademark is "Blu-ray Disc". Sony couldn't get a trademark on Blu-ray. Even blu-ray.com and bluray.com aren't owned by Sony (BDA).

The porn industry is a leading and deciding industry which way this will turn out.

The market conditions that existed during the launch of the VHS technology have long since passed. Adult entertainment has moved to internet delivery. I think porn in HD will be a niche at best...not a deciding factor.

Its definitely not over. Betamax was superior to VHS, but that didn't mean anything. I too read several tech sites daily, and the war is far from being over. Once the players come down in price and are both feasible for most people, that is when the winner will emerge. Not during the early-adapter phase.
