What are your thoughts on CITY/STATE .tv ?

I regged PhiladelphiaPennsylvania.tv and when I did there were two other top 10 cities available I chose not to reg Sanantoniotexas.tv and sanjosecalifornia.tv there were also a few others in the top 30 I look now and they are all regged this was done over the last couple weeks.

AtlantaGeorgia.tv sold here for $300 and I sold PhiladelphiaPennsylvania.tv for $150

It's a bit risky imo. I'm sure that there will be some city/state.TV names that will be sold, but I can't say the same for many others. For one, the name may be too long. Maybe developed city/state names may fare well.
With just city.tv or state.tv, you have a greater chance of selling it to the end-user or reseller and make profit out of it.

Actually I sold atlantageorgia.tv for $350

I love this concept thats why I have alot of them! Some folks say its risky. I think you have to do your research. You have to realy look into it. Not every state is searched exactly as it is spelled, some are searched in this format for example: Boston Ma, not Boston Massachussetts. So I have researched all of the top 100 states in both formats and registered the ones with the highest overture and wordtracker scores. IMO it will pay off. BakersfieldCA.com was just in DNjournal... I have about 20 domains between these two formats. I have been clearing them out over the last week. ;)

Showbiz every city with state abbreviation has more results with " " the abbreviation Just picked up san antonio tx as the only city in top 20 avail and many more results for Sanantoniotx than sanantoniotexas

I think these could work out well with the Me.tv tools til you find a buyer for the domain

This is what I have so far:
sanjoseca.tv
bostonma.tv
virginiabeachva.tv
longbeachca.tv
detroitmi.tv
sacramentocalifornia.tv
omahanebraska.tv
TucsonArizona.tv
SanJoseCalifornia.tv
SanAntonioTexas.tv
RenoNevada.tv
HonoluluHawaii.tv
ElPasoTexas.tv

All of them have good overture scores so I grabbed them.

I have a few more hiding in my account, just have to keep looking, but these are the ones I have taken off the top of my head.

I also looked at sanantoniotexas.tv but decided to pass. Bad decision. I did however pickup jacksonvilleflorida.tv. If I may ask, where did you sell your name? Thanks.

I think there is value in a name like NewYorkNY.TV ... but I'm quite biased toward large geo domains anyway.

I have tried to keep my registrations to names with good overture and over 450,000 population.

I like the city/state Geo's. I call them poor man's Geo's that if you couldn't get/afford the city or state.tv that this was the next best option.

I'm based in Europe (Ireland) so I picked up all the european city/country names and some others. For Example:

DublinIreland.TV
RomeItaly.TV
MadridSpain.TV
BerlinGermany.TV
LondonUK.TV
OsloNorway.TV
VeniceItaly.TV
BarcelonaSpain.TV
ViennaAustria.TV
AthensGreece.TV

Etc, etc. I have all the European cities/country except AmsterdamNetherlands.TV unfortunately.

I also picked up a few others like:

TorontoCanada.TV
CairoEgypt.TV
MoscowRussia.TV
VancouverCanada.TV
RioBrazil.TV
BangkokThailand.TV

I'm in the Travel Guide business so I hope to develop them. I think they work well as a set.

What are your thoughts? Was this a good or bad decision?

Thanks

If you are making money flipping the city/state combo then run with it.

For what it's worth, the city/state or city/country combo is pretty much the only way to play the geo game with .mobi since just about ALL city geo .mobi names are Reserved which means they will never be released to the public.

PS I have no interest in NewportRI.tv and HartfordCT.tv which are available.

Good luck.
