With the obvious heat around the geo sector of .TV names it seems to me, based on common logic, that many cities with populations between 50 and 100 K ,that are growing and have lots of realestate and commerce development are they way to go as far as investing. While the top tier names will continue to skyrocket IMO, I think it safe to say that these smaller cities will still be somewhat valuable assets, especially when TV does become more established over the net.

I'm curious what others think on this topic? Don't smaller city names have an inherent value to them? If and when the bigger cities go for xxxxx isn't it conceivable that cities with 50 to 75 K might fetch mid to high xxx even low xxxx, especially from the realestate industry?

You mean like Deltona.tv which you regged this morning

Well I just purchased Centreville.com. Centreville, VA is a CDP of between 50,000 and 60,000 in the affluent Northern Virginia suburbs. The domain had been a site and had tons of backlinks. It sat for years without being purchased. I bought it for $2,000.

So if the .COM GEOS in the same range are going for $X,XXX you are going to get eaten up with reg fees waiting to make $XXX which is probably the long term value of the smaller GEO .TV unless some aggregator like myself gets them or .TV really gets on the same level as .COM

The problem for aggregators, is trying to make a smaller GEO work sitting 1000s of miles away is a tough gig. Not enough population to light a fire. I live outside Centreville, VA. I could turn that domain into a six figure business easily. No so easy if I lived in Deltona and was trying to make Centreville, VA work.

And realtors buying domains like CapeCoral.tv is fine at reg fee. I have yet to see many in the aftermarket paying more than $X,XXX

Gary.com (600K pop) sold for $29K on Sedo
Johnstown.com (90K pop) is sitting at $60K with no sale.

interesting

it seem like the .tv domain names are starting to make an impact on the domain name industry. I think this could be interesting and I look forward to seeing what the future holds!
