If it sounds nice then why not? I have registered two 5 letter domains which I plan to use as directory & arcade site.

Remember that there are 26 times as many 5 letter .coms as there are 4 letter,. so I do not think there will be a big run on them anytime soon. But a nice sounding name may be worth a try.

As a note: it is not a good idea to post a name you like but have not yet registered on a forum - there are people harsh enough to take it.

Yeah, names like hirso.com, pitaf.com and spooa.com are better. I might register them on Tuesday next week. I hope nobody reads this thread and registers them.

I have learnt the hard way in the past, never tell what your plans are, 95% of members are great but there is also some who will!!!!

5 letter .Com's, if you have a nice brandable name and have the time to work on it then there is no reason why should not be able sell it on for a decent price.

There are some very nice 5- & 6-letter domains if you look hard enough. They usually fall into the brandable names category. 3 or 4-letter are usually acronym names.
BTW famous domains like 'google' or 'yahoo' fall into the 5- & 6-letter category so there is potential in these ;)

Well, put it this way, the fact that you can register them for minimal bucks means that they are not in vogue.

If they 'were' in vogue' you wuldnt be able to register them.

Point:

BUY ! BUY ! BUY!
It will be too late to buy them when the majority starts to realise their potential.

Not interested my self but if i was I would be looking for quasi-words, easily pronouncable, easy to recall AND catchy.

Yahoo is the perfect example. I would stick to similar name with lots of vowels, double vowels or double consonents.

Further examples:
mecca
yabba
loopy
appla
sloop
eebit

Good luck.

5 and 6 letter domains are my fav!!! I have fun finding them and selling them.

I picked up Yovie.com (kinda like Movie) and advertised it as a Brandable Movie site, for selling videos etc or could be the next you tube. Cost to buy $7.20, Sold Price $152.48 (5 day turnaround) I sell lots at about $25-$30 each but that's still 300-400% ROI and that make me happy!

I would be glad if people do not buy them, because I will take that ROI all day long :)

I find it Better, if the domain can relate to something, and remember, Sell the sizzle, as well as the domain :) Paint a pretty picture :)

Sorry that issue has already been addressed. I thought people might see my comment as a joke. I guess my sense of humour is too confusing.

I was actually hoping somebody else would register hirso.com, pitaf.com and spooa.com. I enjoy helping people find names they like.

SPOOA!

No way 5 letter readable will be picked up within 10 years. Do a quick search and there are tons available. Besides, what is the difference between 5 letter and 6 letter?

Though you might be able to sell for something like $50 a piece, they will stay at that price forever.

My 2 cents.

5 and 6-letter pronouncable domains can sell for $40-$70 very easily. Those are among my greatest sellers out of everything I sell. :)

As a reseller, I am glad to make $42.80 on each of them and do not mind if they never go up. If the buyer makes a site with the domain, it will go up in value. Plus there user's will not have to type in some 18 letter domain all the time ;)

It's just like one of my sites. Yuber.com . Short,Catchy,Memorable and Brandable. By the way ( you can get free email at Yuber.com but I am updating the site, so it will be unavailable for a couple of days) ;) LOL

I disagree. While there is a high supply of potentially brandable 5 letter domains, there is sequences within those 5 letter domains that are becoming a lot less available.
4 letter sequences like "book" and "iger"
3 letter sequences like "ger", "sat","fly","zoo" and "ita".
2 letter sequences like "oo","he","sh","ip","ch","ta","as","em", and "ts".

Certain sounds and letters sequences are associated with different thoughts and feelings and some potentially brandable words are more favourable than others and these names are depleting. Most people would prefer a name like pitaf.com over a name like ukojl.com. Nobody wants ukojl.com but a lot of people would like a nice sounding name like pitaf.com

Pita is a common acronym, a name and a type of bread.

The most popular website in the world is a positive sounding five letter brandable domain that makes little sense to anyone.

I like 5-letter .com's, mainly because there are a good number that are truly brandable. A month ago I registered Jogla.com because I think that it sounds kinda cool.

Great name! jogLA.com make it a jogging site geared towards LA with recommended routes!

I have a few 5 lettered ones I will keep, like most of you I like the sounds of them and their great branding potential. :)

I recently snapped pabls.com for 9$ only because it sounded good to me. It has no meaning.
