Hi everyone,

I was thinking about buying some domain names with 3g on the end. And example would be samsung3g.com, not that this is available but would this conflict with any legal rights? I'm fairly new in this area so any help would be greatly received.

Thanks,

James

"3G" stands for "Third Generation" and is simply a tech standard; it isn't trademarked (akin to WiFi and other similar tech spec terms.) So at least in that regard you have nothing to worry about. Obviously, Samsung and any other well-known trademark is a problem regardless; however, simply having "3G" in a domain name is no risk at all.

Thanks Frank, good info there. Are you saying that because I have Samsung in my domain name even with 3g too this could cause problems regardless of the 3g?

YES!!!!

Stay away from trademarked names of any kind, especially well-known TMs.

Yes, Samsung or any other TM is a problem. 3G is not a TM, so it's not a problem.

Yeah. Your problem is the trademark part of the domain name, not the untradmarked part of the domain name.
