Just curios how the market is for these domains right now.

... or maybe instead of placing the blame on outside factors it's time admit two key points:
1. 3D is a very fragile area of domaining. Decent sales are mostly dependent upon 3D hype within mainstream society, which has severely died down over the past few months. You never hear about 3D anymore. 3D speculators chose to ignore this possibility and instead believed that 3D was going to be all the rage going forward.
2. The initial run on 3D domains produced a handful of decent quick flips, but that model traditionally burns out fast and 3D was no exception.
So what we have left on the market are long term holders that bought their good domains years ago and the sellers from the "Great 3D rush of winter 2009" that can't sell anything because of the two reasons stated above.
OMG. If only we had listened to you earlier
3Dtheater.com for $895 at name jet
Yes some have said as 3d TV becomes standard no one will think of it as 3d anymore. But that is just TVs and screens - there are also 3d objects and holograms to think of, but who knows if consumers will use the word 3d to talk about and buy that stuff.
That is a premium 3D domain that was registered in 2004. You are encouraged by its $895 sale? There is a lot of money in the 3D market. This could pay more than half of my rent3Dtheater.com for $895 at name jet![]()
The percentage of salable 3D domains to these companies is so tiny that very few domainers will do well. Until then, trash will be renewed awaiting the mythical "3D transitional period" where every company wants a 3D domain.I agree with you, but if/when 3D truly becomes the wave of the future there will be the transitional period where companies will be hopping on the 3D band wagon and rolling out, heavily promoting and competing for dominance in their niche for "3D [insert product/service here]".
For the most part, this will be the time period to make sure one clears out their 3D dn inventory -- before the excitement peaks and 3D becomes the standard.

your thoughts?
thanks carob
i think that a '3d test drive' has the power to outlast the 'trend' of 3d and be a very successful standalone.
only real alternative i can think of is maybe 'Virtual TestDrive' (?)
i also don't think that $xx,xxx is category killer money but i do think there is more to be made from this name.
thanks again carob
