I don't know how it happend, but I have a site that is number 5 on google for my keywords which have over 38,000 OVT.

This is just a one page site that I didn't do any SEO on, no meta tags, just a bit of keyword density. I built it about a month or so ago, didn't list it anywhere because it is a work in progress. I have no idea how it got indexed this fast, especially by google. The site was indexed a few days ago (by the date on the cached page).

So now I'm frantic. I want to add to the site and still keep it where it is on google, but I'm afraid to touch the first page. I'm even afraid to add meta tags at this point. I don't won't to lose my position on google.

Anyone been in this situation? Have any advice for me?

I'm thinking of adding a forum with a link from the front page and some other pages with more info regarding the keywords.

Is that what you would do?

I'm excited about the potential of this, if I don't mess it up :hehe:

Just a quick thought, Google tends to index new websites and show them on the first page for a while, and then drops them to 5th-6th etc page, it happened with me before. So i would advice to build the site, that is the only way to keep it there, or to get back to first page in the future. Google doesnt care about meta tags btw.

"Google tends to index new websites" Is this really true?
I noticed the same things for some of my new sites. If this is true, then
we need to think about the best strategies.

My understanding is the opposite: the sandbox for new site.

Well, it could be because of many reasons. Most of all, it could be a one of those mystery google results that can change at any moment. It also depends on the keywords, I understand that OVT is good, but are you getting any google traffic for those keywords. If you are getting good traffic that way, you better figure out how to keep that position and improve the site. But again, it may change over night.

It is difficult to comment further without knowing the keywords and the domain. Nevertheless, congrats on that position.

FYI, this post should have been in SE sub forum, nothing to do with domain name discussion.

Thanks for the advice. I am getting some traffic coming in. I think I will work on the site this week and build it up. Hopefully that will keep the google bots happy :)

Hopefully a mod can move this to the right forum :red:
