Hello All,
Interesting discussion!
In consideration of the recent strength of .us domains on DNJournal's sales report, I see many reasons for 3-letter .us domains to also strengthen in value in the near and distant future.
This is especially true as several folks have let their 3-letter .us domains drop, and for a short amount of time a small quantity of 3-letter .us domains are now available to hand register. If you consider a Godaddy coupon discount, you could hand reg one of the last few, now recently available, 3-letter .us domains for $5.95.
Consider this: What if you registered one of the remaining 3-letter .us domains today for $5.95, and then waited 1 year. What if, by one year from now, the domain was then worth something like $18-$20 (or more). That would be a 3x gain in one year, and is very possible. And consider the risk...$5.95 is the most you could lose in one year's time.
In the year's time, you can also develop or park the name and may perhaps then also get some parking revenue.
What too if you get an offer from an interested party within the year's time. Say a business needs your acronym, or that your acronym becomes famous as a new car name (ex. tsx) or stock symbol or any number of other possibilities. All it cost you to find out is $5.95.
To me, 3-letter .us domains represent a great risk-reward category of domains. .US is catching on slowly (but is indeed catching on!) here in the US and this extension's future has great potential. I guess that's why I'm holding onto my portfolio of 3-letter .us domains...and perhaps I'm biased, but they just seem like a smart speculative buy to me.
Keep up the great discussion!
