Hey, i have been keeping an eye on the 3 letter .Mobi's since launch and it seems they are getting snapped up quiet quickly. This is a good sign for .Mobi owners and looks like they could be a good investment for the future.
And i think even more will be taken when the cheaper registration prices come out.

Personally i have only picked up 2 but i think it will end up around 10 when all names have been taken.

What are your thoughts and when do you think we will see the last 3 letter .mobi taken?

I bought ILE.Mobi and OIP.Mobi what did you get?

Thanks

When I went to bed this morning, there were 24 LLL's on my list of possible regs, and when I woke up this afternoon there were only 2 of those left unregistered. Wow! :o

I didn't reg this one, but thought I would throw it out there to anyone quick enough on the draw: vru.mobi (Voice Response Unit)

before you disregard the name because of the "v' in it, do a google on it. The VRU system has saved companies litterally billions of dollars due to not having to hire more customer service reps. People call the VRU #, and take care of bank info, etc themselves. I really do think this is what the mobile internet is about.

Why didn't I buy it.... I have three that I'm very happy with, and didn't want to be forced to buy it tonight! :)

According to my calculations, all of the one-touch key lll.mobi domains are now registered. (domains containing only letters A, D, G, J, M, P, T, W)

Edit to say, I was not counting domains where the same letter is used twice in a row, such as AAx or xAA, as this causes a pause in the entry of the domain. I was only counting three letter domains with letters A, D, G, J, M, P, T, and W, where not AAx or xAA.

Those are all gone...

.mobi like .name?

As of this post, there were around 120 three-letter .mobis still available. I just couldn't bring myself to register any because .mobi reminds me too much of .name. Any good 3 letter .name sales out there? Is anybody really using the .name?

Unless .mobis are absolutely necessary for web access via ipods, PDAs and such, I just don't see them catching on. I can still remember how the registrars promoted .biz for business, .pro for professionals, and .name for email. Oh they sounded good at the time, but to me now, the .mobi is more of the same. It is just another way for the registrars to make windfall profits from a new TLD.

One more thing:

The .mobi seems like a real pain. Below excerpt copied from http://pc.mtld.mobi/documents/dotmobi_Switch_On_Web_Developer_Guide3.html)

2.2 Mandatory Rules Audit, Notification & Enforcement Process
DotMobi domain name registrants agree to implement the mandatory registrant rules listed in this document whenever they publish a web site linked to a dotMobi name on the internet. It is strongly recommended that registrants also ensure that their applications also comply with Best Practices to improve the end-user experience.

mTLD will audit all dotMobi domains for compliance to the mandatory rules. mTLD will audit these domains in whatever way or frequency decided by mTLD to be practical and reasonable. When a web site using a dotMobi name is not compliant with the mandatory rules, an exception report for the dotMobi name will be created by mTLD.

DotMobi names not in compliance with mandatory rules will have 60 days to become compliant. mTLD shall send two notices to the registrant's registrar asking the registrar to contact the offending registrant with the exception report. The registrar will be required to provide a 60 day and then a 45 day notice of this non-compliance. If a name is not in compliance with 30 days left to go, then mTLD may chose to contact the registrant directly after making best efforts to make contact through their registrar. A formal statement of this policy is available on the mTLD web site.

DotMobi names that are not brought back into compliance shall be place into a hold status which will prevent their resolution on the internet. The dotMobi names shall not be deleted from the registration system, but their name will be placed on hold until they are in compliance with the mandatory rules.

I have heard a lot of these types of comments this week. Nothing wrong with that at all. It just sounds to me like your trying to talk yourself out of buying a domain. When you go on a registrars site there is a little "commitment" involved with that.

I think you miss the point about .mobi... It has nothing to do with being an extension as it's the ugliest of them all, but rather it being a "platform" to build on. No one is going to force com owners into creating content. Software fixes, and Google won't even take care of 25% of the problems associated with "content" appearing normal on small screens. So... what to do? Wait for a "patch" that is 100% universal...or create a platform that will be 100% ready?

So it's not about the extension and everything to do with finding content that appears "right" 100% of the time. Now that's going to get some "content" providers moving....To lucrative not to.

Got a couple that I know what to do with when/if things gets going with .mobi:

CME (Continuing Medical Education)
CLE (Continuing Legal Education)

I know for sure that lots of this continuing ed. is now being done both on the Internet and while "on the go" via audios (tapes, CDs) so I can envision there being audio downloads to the mobile devices for listening to the lectures/tutorials followed by online quizes to get the credits. Lets see what happens.
